KIDLINGTON F C NEWS

New Manager Gives His Thoughts - 22nd May

Kidlington Football Club’s new first team manager Gordon Geary (left) spoke last night about the hopes and aspirations he has for his new role and about his planning for the forthcoming season.

Geary, 47 in July, was in his playing days a big bustling ‘old fashioned’ type centre forward, reputedley he took no prisoners and scored plenty of goals.

Opening up his chat with Kidlingtons' Press Officer, Simon Dickens, he said. "I am relishing the opportunity to come back to my old club where I previously had two enjoyable spells as a player”. He added. “Being a Kidlington lad I have a real feeling for the place where I spent so many happy seasons as a player. It feels like coming back home, especially with so many of the old faces I have seen about the ground since my appointment”.

Geary started his adult playing career at Yarnton F.C. in the early 80’s, but as he progressed as a player he moved on to Kidlington, where he could play football of a higher standard. He stayed with Kidlington for four seasons before being persuaded back to Yarnton where he helped them achieve Senior League status. In the early 90’s Geary returned to Kidlington where the infamous Andy Sinnott was in charge. Geary, was now in his prime and enjoyed another seven or so seasons with the club before hanging up his boots, where he notes benefiting from his time under managers Pete Lamont and Karl Grossmann.

Geary said. "I enjoyed my best years here at Kidlington playing in the Hellenic League. So I know what it’s all about at this level and am extremely confident of keeping the good work that the outgoing management team achieved over the past few years ”. Geary stressed. “I also know they will be a hard act to follow”.

Along with his new management team of Keith Appleton, Paul Harwood and Gary Johnson, Geary commented. “We watched several of Kidlington’s games last season and were impressed by the player’s skills and commitment”. Adding. “The management team are eager to keep all the players that were at the club last season, but then also try and add to the squad by attracting some ex-Kidlington players back into the fold, and perhaps some players that have been playing at a higher level”. He said he had started this process already and that all players both old and new will be extremely welcome when training starts again in early July.

Overall Geary stated. "My ambition is to bring success to Kidlington F.C. to reward the loyal committee and all the other people associated with the club. I was amazed, but not surprised, by the professional approach that was now so much part of the club. It is and absolutely delighted to see how far the club has come both on and off the field of play since I was a player at Yarnton Road”.

In summing up Geary said.“ I am very excited at being given this opportunity, I and the team can’t wait to get started, we really want to give something back to the club we have all been associated with over the years.

Geary Takes Helm At Kidlington - 21st May

Kidlington Football Club is pleased to announce that former player Gordon Geary will manage their first team next season. Gordon’s will be assisted by Keith Appleton, Paul Harwood and Gary Johnson. Gordon has a good pedigree and was a respected local player. He gained managerial experience as assistant manager at Abingdon Town in the Ryman’s League and as reserve team manager at Oxford City. Kidlington see him as the ideal person to take the club forward on its continued development into what will be our centenary season 2009-2010. Geary stated that he hoped “all of last season’s players would return to the club when training commences, where both old and new will be welcome”.

The Club is indebted to the out-going managerial team of Paul Lee, Kelvin Alexis and Matt Hayward for the superb work they have done over the last three seasons, where they have cemented the club as a serious contender in the Hellenic Premier Division and brought some long awaited silverware to the club. All three have stepped down to take up other offers and Kidlington FC wish them the very best in what the future holds.

Also leaving the club is the reserve management team of Steve McMahon, Mick Hickey and Joe Hughes, again the club thank them for their service over the last 3 seasons and of course wish them well for their future ventures. The Club will now move in a new direction with Geary at the helm, one of the first things he will do will be to appoint a reserve team manager to provide continuity throughout the club, this will be the subject of a further release when it has been confirmed. Our successful U18 youth team will continue to be managed by Mick Trafford, Bob Sherlock and Barry Hiles and our Veterans will be managed by Darren McNamara.

A Fitting Match To Honour Terry Wiffen - 12th May

Last Sunday Afternoon FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division Club Kidlington staged the second annual Terry Wiffen memorial match between a Kidlington XI  and an Oxford United Legends team.

The match was keenly contested with both sides playing some excellent football on a lovely sunny afternoon at Yarnton Road. Oxford United included their 1st team manager Chris Wilder who signed a new three year contract with the U’s last Friday in their line up. Wilder and Oxford assistant manager Mickey Lewis both rolled back the years along with several other old Oxford United favourites in this match. Kidlington had ex-Aston Villa and Leicester City man Garry Parker in their squad, along with numerous other players and managers from Kidlington teams of the past.

A bumper crowd of over 450 turned out for the event to honour Wiffen a former Kidlington player, manager, coach and committee member, who died two years ago.

Oxford won the game 6-4, with Peter Rhoades-Brown leading the way with two goals – both from the penalty spot.

Mike Ford, Chris Allen, Matty Brandish and a sublime Lloyd Wray own goal made up their tally, Luke Holden (2) Kevin Walton and Lee Bolton were on target for Kidlington. Lewis said: “It was a fantastic day – we all love playing in matches like this.”

Kidlington secretary David Platt was delighted with the turn-out, both in terms of numbers watching the game, and the team Oxford brought. “The whole day was just fabulous,” he said. “Mickey Lewis deserves so much thanks for getting a cracking Oxford side together and supporting the day. Terry did just about every job possible at the club and it is great that he is remembered on a day like this."

Rhoades-Brown said the highlight of the day was Lewis’s half-time team talk. “We were so tired that all the players stayed on the pitch at half-time, with just the referee and his assistants going in for a cup of tea. Then Mickey decided that because he wasn’t there, we should start the second half without him. When the ref eventually came out, a huge cheer went up and he realised we’d been playing for five minutes without him!”

Kidlington F.C. Presentation Evening - 12th May

Kidlington Football Club held their annual presentation evening at Yarnton Road last Friday evening 8th May. It was a really excellent and well attended event. Kidlington’s players from all four sides were joined by clubs official, supporters, family and friends to celebrate another fine season. The club provided a disco and a lavish buffet, which were enjoyed by all.

It was another good year on the pitch for Kidlington with the first team, led this season by the management duo of Kelvin Alexis and Matt Hayward finishing in a very respectable 9th place in the FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division. The 1st Team also accrued the most points that a Kidlington side has ever achieved in the Premier section and made it to one semi-final and two quarter finals in the cup competitions.

The Reserve team led by Steve McMahon, Mick Hicky and Joe Hughes finished third in the Hellenic Reserve Division One and were beaten finalists in the Oxfordshire Intermediate Cup Final.

The youth side managed by Mick Trafford and assisted by Bob Sherlock and Barry Hiles had a really exciting season winning the Allied Counties Youth Football League North Division and finishing runners up in the Oxfordshire Youth Cup Final. They also boasted the leagues leading goal scorer in Kieran Sanders who netted 22 times for them.

Kidlington’s Veterans side for the 1st time in 3 seasons didn’t win their league title, but they still managed to bring home some silverware in the form of the Oxfordshire Veterans Cup beating Bampton Town 4 – 1 in the final.

When Talboys took over the reigns the club were a struggling division one outfit, but now under his stewardship they have a team and ground to be proud of. Talboys was instrumental in the club attaining their flood lights, stands and the general upgrade of the facilities at Yarnton Road, which makes football at this level a reality. The club marked the occasion by David Platt (right) presenting Tallboy's with tankard and a pair of tickets for this month’s F.A. Cup final between, his beloved Chelsea, and Everton

Kidlington Take On Oxford United - 15th April

Oxford United midfielder Barry Quinn (pictured) makes his return this Saturday as United take on Kidlington in a specially arranged friendly at Yarnton Road.

Quinn, who has four Ireland International caps, has missed the second half of the season after an operation on a troublesome ankle injury but has now made a full recovery and will play in a game which will also give Shane Killock match practice. Killock has been training for two weeks after a hamstring injury and joins Quinn in defence in the game at Kidlington which will kick off at 12 o'clock midday.

Oxford also have the Final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup to look forward to when they take on Banbury United on Tuesday 21st April.Kidlington still have one Hellenic Premier League match to play away against Highworth Town, but this match is not fixtured until the 27th April so Kidlington need the fixture to keep their match tempo going.

Oxford United, who still have slight chances of gaining a play-off place in The Blue Square Conference, will be fielding predominately the Reserves with the addition of first team squad members mentioned, Kidlington will field their first team squad.

Admission for the match will be £3:00 for adult and £1:00 for concessions. Kick off is twelve noon, so a chance to take in this game and another in the Hellenic League with a 3pm kick off.

Kidlington v Chalfont Wasps - 5th April

Following action taken by the Oxfordshire Football Association with regard to the abandonment of the match after 85 minutes between Kidlington and Chalfont Wasps on March 7th, the League Disciplinary Committee has awarded a 2-1 win to Chalfont Wasps in respect of this fixture.

The Oxfordshire FA has imposed appropriate sanctions following a disciplinary hearing.
Williams Back For Kidlington - 2nd April

Kidlington's talisman winger, Morgan Williams, is back from his world tour and is raring to go again.

Although Morgan hasn’t played for six months he was on the bench at Chalfont mid-week and came on for the last fifteen minutes were he showed his value.

Club General Manager Paul Lee said “It’s really good having Morgs back again, he’s such an exciting player, we have missed his flair, not to mention his goals."

Back in light training is the Kidlington player of the 2007/8 season Mark Baker, and Ex-Wycombe Wanderers front man Jermaine McSporran. Both these two sustained nasty knee injuries. Jermaine suffered his injury in October, which required surgical treatment to repair the damage, whilst Mark sustained ligament damage in January. Fortunately for Baker, after assessment and scans it was felt that he would not require surgery.

The club are pleased that both are rehabilitating well, and hope to have all three of these players back in their starting line up soon.

Emmett McGovern is unavailable for the Hook Norton fixture and Stuart Cattell will face a late fitness check after sustaining a foot injury against Chalfont.

SQUAD:- Hutton, Beames, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral, Martin, Cattell, Thomas, McGovern, Deabill, Sanders, Styles, C.Baker, Johnson, Lovegrove, Williams, Wise, Bolton, Hayward.

Hayward Singing - 31st March

Matt Hayward was still singing the virtues of his Kidlington sides weekend performance and is looking forward to tomorrow nights trip to Chalfont Wasps.

Hayward said on the weekend win. “The performance of the whole team was very pleasing and everyone played their part. Wing backs Jerry Kapral and Mark Flanagan, had tremendous games with their tireless running up and down the flanks. To cap it there was the tremendous goal that Flanagan scored when he linked up with Big Jimmy Deabill to tie the scores at one apiece”.

He went on to say “It was especially pleasing that after going a goal down, against the run of play, that we came back so strongly against a team like Witney. This was one of our best performance of the season so far”.

After their unavailability at the weekend leading scored Danny Wise, Lee Bolton and U18 County youth player Jack Johnson will all return for selection, so Kidlington will basically have a full squad to pick from tomorrow. The other good news for Kidlington is that playmaker Mark Baker who injured his knee back in January will not after all need an operation. It was feared at the time that he had cartilage or ligament damage, however after an MRI scan it now appears that he will be able to recover with rest and physiotherapy.

Praise For Young Gun - 26th March

Mid-week Kidlington lost 1 – 0 away to title chasing Shortwood United in a closely fought encounter, and although Kidlington were without several first team players joint Manager Matt Hayward lavished praise on his side for the performance that they gave.

He reserved special praise for young debutant Jack Johnson (pictured). Hayward said “ Jack had a brilliant debut and showed us exactly what he is all about with his obvious skill and enthusiasm, the only down side is that he is unavailable for the Witney match because he is captaining the Oxforshire County Youth side on Saturday afternoon, so won’t be available to play for us”.

Kidlington will have Jimmy Deabill, Marvin Martin, Denel Thomas, Andy Styles and Kieran Sanders back in the squad, but leading scorer Danny Wise and Lee Bolton will miss out because they are away.

Squad:- Hutton, Beames, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral, Martin, Cattell, Thomas, McGovern, C.Baker, Deabill, Sanders, Styles, C.Baker, Lovegrove, Hayward

For this weekend’s match Kidlington have several concerns, Danny Wise and Mark Flanagan both picked up knocks during the mid-week defeat and keeper Matt Hutton still isn’t 100% fit. Denel Thomas is to serve a one match suspension for this game.

Jon Beames is back in the squad after he was unavailable to participate mid–week because through being Cup tied and defender Chris Baker returns for selection.

Team From:- Hutton, Beames, Gabbidon, Flanagan,  Kapral,  Martin, Cattell, McGovern, Bolton,  C.Baker,  Deabill, Sanders, Styles, Wise, C.Baker, Lovegrove, Hayward.

HPL Semi-Final - 16th March

FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division sides Kidlington and Marlow United meet in the Semi-Final of the HPL Floodlit Challenge Cup at Yarnton Road tomorrow night K.O. 7:45pm.

Because of the loss of games through the weather conditions at the start of 2009, the League committee took the decision took amend the format from a two legged semi final to a single leg knock out, holders Kidlington
will be doing their upmost to achieve a place in the final to try and retain the Cup this season.

Kidlington beat Premier Division Abingdon Town, plus, Division One East sides, Holyport and Binfield to reach the semi's. All the previous matches were drawn as away games from Kidlington, so the club have the chance of a home advantage in this fixture.

Since the New Year Kidlington have won five, and drawn one, of ten matches in all competition , and Marlow have won four, drawn one, in nine. Kidlington met Marlow for the first time in a league match the opening day of this season away at Wilks Park. In a cagey encounter the game remained goal less with neither side prepared to take too many risks. This coming weekend Kidlington will take on Marlow again in the return league fixture at Yarnton Road .

Last week Kidlington's First Team recorded two very good wins. The first of these on Tuesday evening against Shrivenham 1—0 here at Yarnton Road, then last Saturday 3—1 away to Milton United. Joint Manager Matt Hayward said. "Just as importantly as winning these games we didn’t pick up any new injuries, so hopefully we should be nearly at full strength for this match".

Mark Baker will miss out because of injury and Jon Beames is cup tied. Back into the squad come keeper Matt Hutton and County Under 18 player Kieran Sanders.

Last Saturday Kidlington's match with Chalfont Wasps was abandoned by Match referee Kieran Bailey with the score 2 - 1 to the visitors in the 85 minute. As yet there is no news about this incident from the County FA , although the matter is in progress. Until charges have issued by the relevant authority, Kidlington will wait to decide what action to take.

On Tuesday evening Kidlington got back to winning ways with a 1 - 0 victory over Shrivenham. Mark Flanagan netting the only goal of the game in the 59th minute after being set up by Jimmy Deabill.

For this weekends match Kidlington should be nearly at full strength, the only noticeable absentees will be keeper Matt Hutton and striker Mark Baker who are both recovering from knee injuries. County youth player Kieran Sanders is back in contention after being unavailable for the mid week match.

Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward who played in the Chalfont game said. Aafter the way l last weekends' match finished it will be nice for the players to get back out on the pitch to show what they can do, and hopefully get back to winning ways".

He added that he and Co-Joint Manager Kelvin Alexis. "Were generally happy at the way Kidlington had played during the match, where they created numerous chances. Though the team need to cut out the lapses in concentration, like the one that cost them a goal early in the second half, but generally the lads, had done enough to take at least a point from the match".

Keeper Jon Beames (pictured) will start for Kidlington against Chalfont Wasps at Yarnton Road on Saturday, giving Matt Hutton a chance to recover from injuries he has been playing through.

Beames kept a clean sheet in his debut game on Tuesday night at Highworth, though terrible storms meant it only lasted 15 minutes, as the game had to be abandoned with the score 0 - 0.

Along with Beames, Kidlington's other new signing, Andy Styles, will be in the squad for this weekend.

Also returning for the Chalfont match are Emmett McGovern and Adam Doyle. Chris Baker (toe) and Lewis Gabbidon (thigh) will face late fitness tests, but Mark Baker (knee) still remains side lined.

Kidlington Squad - Jon Beames, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Chris Baker, Andy Styles, Matt Hayward.

New Signings For Kidlington - 3rd March

Kidlington announce the signings of midfielder Andy Styles and keeper Jon Beames.

With the season entering it's later stages Kidlington's Management Team have felt it necessary to bolster their squad for the run in. This is mainly because of injures or potential injury to key players, and the obvious unavailability which is always apparent when we enter this stage of the season, especially playing two games a week now.

Midfield player Andy Styles (left) transfered from Milton United. Andy is a young dynamic attacking central midfield player who's ability in this position is unquestionable. Previously with Witney United and Bicester Town.

Also signing for the club is Jon Beames(right). Jon (28) is an experienced goalkeeper who has been at Witney United this season making 30 first team appearances for the Blanketmen.

Beames joined Witney from Southern League Beaconsfield earlier this season. He has also played for Southern League clubs Burnham and Aylesbury in recent times, in previous seasons he has played for Abingdon Town and Milton United in the Hellenic League.

Kidlington committee member Simon Dickens comments." It was felt that we needed cover for regular First Team keeper Matt Hutton because of the hole left left in the squad after the departure of Gareth Tucker to Ardley United a couple of months back. These two lads join our squad and are eligible for selection when we take on Highworth Town tonight in a league match."

Squad Strengthening - 2nd March

Kidlington are looking at strengthening their squad before the final run in to the season. With, depending on negotiations, the possibility of two or three additional players for the squad during next week or so.

On Saturday Kidlington were held to a goal less at Bicester Town, where the home sides goalkeeper Tom McNamara played a blinder to keep a clean sheet. This result means that Kidlington's fine run of form, only losing twice in their last eleven league games continues. Kidlington will now be looking to keep this run going tomorrow night at The Elm Recreation Ground, the home of their Wiltshire opponents.

Lewis Gabbidon will face a late fitness test. Mark Baker (knee) still remains side lined.

Kidlington Squad for Highworth - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Darren Clare, Chris Baker, Matt Hayward.

Derby Time For Kidlington - 26th February

Tuesday evening's fixture againts Reading Town saw the side record a 2-1 result and their third straight win. Kidlington's goals came from Lewis Gabbidon (right) and Jimmy Deabill.

Kidlington have won nine of thier last eleven league games, moving into the top half of the league table for the first time since October last year. It now seems Kidlington's form has returned, they go to Bicester looking to achieve another positive result.

Marvin Martin returns to the squad and Kieran Sanders will face a late fitness test. Mark Baker (knee) still remains side-lined.

Kidlington from: - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Darren Clare, Chris Baker, Tom Castle, Tom Herbert, Sam Fincher, Matt Hayward.

Sanders Quality - 23rd February

Kidlington's Matt Hayward said that he had been "very impressed by the attitude and quality of the young players who have stepped up to First Team action in the past couple of weeks or so, in particular Kieran Sanders (left) who started their last two games".

Kidlington's Youth side is doing well again this year in the Allied Counties Youth League North Division, where they currently sit in joint first place with 2 games in hand. Hayward commented. "The management have been impressed on the occasions that they have seen the Youth Team playing, especially considering that for most of the side this is their first season at U18 level, and that most of them will be eligible to participate again next season".

Kidlington will meet Reading Town tomorrow night at Yarnton Lane, Kidlington will give late fitness checks to Danny Wise and Matt Hutton, who both picked up slight knocks toward the end of the Harrow Hill match. Captain Emmett McGovern who missed Saturday's match comes back into the squad, however both Mark Baker (knee) and James Philpott (ankle) remain side lined.

Kidlington Squad - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Darren Clare, Chris Baker, Tom Castle, Tom Herbert, Sam Fincher, Matt Hayward.

Youngsters Impress - 19th February

Kidlington progress to the semi final of the HPL Floodlit Cup, with the aid of three youth team players.

Recording an excellent 4 - 0 victory at Division One East side Binfield. The current Floodlit Cup holders were good value for their win with leading scorer Danny Wise netting a brace, Jimmy Deabill and Lewis Gabbidon netting a goal a piece.

Before the match Kidlington's Management Team of Matt Hayward and Kelvin Alexis had problems with player unavailability. Ten of the regular first team squad were either injured or had work commitments, which meant they couldn't travel, therefore they called up three of the youth team squad for this match. Hayward stated that "all three of the lads we pulled into the side, Tom Castle, Tom Herbert and Sam Fincher acquitted themselves very well". He went on to say that. "Now we have seen them in action we won't hesitate to use them again, they will now remain part of the first Team Management's thinking"

The three youth players are in the squad for this Saturdays trip to Harrow Hill.

Harrow are rock bottom of the table at the moment and looking certain relegation candidates, however they achieved their only league win of the campaign so far against Kidlington at Yarnton Road back in November. Kidlington put in a deplorable performance on that day and Harrow Hill deservedly took all three points in their 2 - 0 win. Kidlington will be seeking revenge for this defeat and will travel taking some good recent league form with them, only two league defeats in their last 9 matches.

For the match both Mark Baker (knee) and James Philpott (ankle) remain side lined. Also Nick Bayliss is rated doubtful. However Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Adam Lovegrove, Jamie Mundy, Lee Bolton, Jerry Kapral and Darren Clare all return to the squad.

Kidlington Squad - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Jamie Mundy, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Darren Clare, Chris Baker, Tom Castle, Tom Herbert, Sam Fincher, Matt Hayward

All To Play For - 13th February

Kidlington entertain neighbours Old Woodstock Town and will be looking to avenge their recent SBJ Challenge Cup loss against Town.

Last weekend the match at Almondsbury was postponed, however Kidlington won their last two league run outs, 2 - 0 at Wantage Town with Jimmy Deabill and strike partner Danny Wise netting the goals. And it was more of the same when Carterton Town visited Yarnton Road, this time it was a tighter affair, but again it was Deabill and Wise who scored Kidlington's goals their 2 - 1 victory.

Kidlington's league form at the moment is exceptional, winning seven of their last eight matches, however joint Manager's Matt Hayward and Kelvin Alexis are fully aware of the oppositions potential, as only a couple of weeks ago Woodstock knocked Kidlington out of the Challenge Cup at Northcourt Road. A win would go down well with the Yarnton Road faithful after the recent disappointment of the cup result.

Both Mark Baker (knee) and James Philpott (ankle) remain side lined, other than these two Kidlington should have a full squad to pick from.

Kidlington Squad - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Jamie Mundy, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Darren Clare, Chris Baker, Matt Hayward.

Kidlington Weekend News - 5th February

On Saturday Premier Division Kidlington are due to travel to Almondsbury Town for a League match, K.O. 3:00pm weather permitting.

Last Saturday Kidlington won 2 - 0 at Wantage Town with Big Jimmy Deabill and strike partner Danny Wise netting the goals. On Tuesday evening it was more of the same when Carterton visited Yarnton Road. This time it was a tighter affair, but again it was Deabill and Wise who scored Kidlington's goals their 2 - 1 victory. Kidlington's league form at the moment is exceptional, winning seven of their last eight matches, however joint Manager's Matt Hayward and Kelvin Alexis will be warning their squad against complacency, as they know that Almondsbury's Oakland Park is never an easy place to come and get a result. Kidlington have already played the Almonds twice this season, both times at home at Yarnton Road. In the first match in the F.A. Cup back in August the visitors won a very close game 3 - 2, only progressing after a late injury time strike proved the difference between the sides. The second meeting, a league match in early November saw Kidlington gain revenge with a fine 2 - 0 win, their goals that day coming from Danny Wise and Morgan Williams. For the trip to Bristol both Mark Baker (knee) and James Philpott (ankle) remain side lined, other than these two Kidlington should have a full squad to pick from.

Kidlington Squad - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Jamie Mundy, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Darren Clare, Chris Baker, Matt Hayward.

Kidlington Tomorrow - 2nd February

Tuesday evening's FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division match when Kidlington host Carterton at Yarnton Road is in doubt due to snowfall already received on the pitch. With more snow to follow the league fixture remains in doubt.

Last Saturday Kidlington beat Wantage Town 2 - 0 at Alfredian Park to make it 6 league wins from the last seven played. Jimmy Deabill and Danny Wise netting the goals. During the second half of the match local youngster Kieran Sanders came on as substitute and impressed greatly, and he retains his place in the squad. Unfortunately during the Wantage match central defender James Philpott turned an ankle, he joins Mark Baker who has knee ligament damage on the treatment table, and neither will be able to participate in this match. Back in the squad will be Stuart Cattell who missed the weekend win.

Kidlington Squad - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Emmett McGovern, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Kieran Sanders, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Jamie Mundy, Lee Bolton, Marvin Martin, Jerry Kapral, Nick Bayliss, Darren Clare, Chris Baker, Matt Hayward.

Cup Hopes For Kidlington - 22nd January

Kidlington travel to the Northcourt Road ground in Abingdon on Saturday to take on Old Woodstock Town in the Quarter Final of the SBJ Sports Insurance Challenge Trophy.

Losing last weekend 2 - 1 to step 7 side Garsington, in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, ended the Kiddy's six game winning streak, however they got back to winning ways again in mid week, with a home league victory against Abingdon Town. The Abingdon game saw returns for James Philpott, Darren Clare, Jimmy Deabill and Marvin Martin who were unavailable to participate last weekend.

Woodstock's form has picked up of late after a slow start to their campaign this season, only losing two of their last eight matches, so Kidlington know they will be in for a tough encounter against their local rivals. Kidlington gained a creditable 2 - 1 victory at Northcourt Road against Woodstock earlier this season though the management team of Matt Hayward and Kelvin Alexis will have the players guarded against complacency.

Late fitness checks will be taken on Emmett McGovern and Mark Flanagan, if these two prove their fitness then Kidlington will have full squad to pick from.

He then went on to add that "it is good to have this match against Abingdon coming so soon after the defeat to Garsington. It gives us a chance to put right what was a very poor performance at the weekend, and with so many players returning, we will have plenty of options from the start".

Kidlington joint manager Matt Hayward said; "although we haven't had a match for a few weeks, all the players have been training hard and we now can't wait to get back to competitive action again this weekend".

Kidlington hope that Lee Bolton and Jerry Kapral will return this Saturday, after both missed several weeks because of injury. Kidlington also have last seasons Captain James Philpott and defender Darren Clare available. Philpott and Clare have both been unavailable for the first part of the season because of work commitments, but are now back in the fold, so they will be eager to re-establish themselves into the side. Joint Manager Matt Hayward said. "With these two returning it's like signing a couple of new players, and it's great news for us all here at Kidlington going into the New Year". Hayward added " the lads all trained well on Tuesday evening, and we can't wait to get back to competitive action".

Kidlington will again include 17 year old signing Marvin Martin who is on a 'Work Experience' placement at the club from Oxford United, where he is on a two year scholarship.

Kidlington are on a tremendous run at the moment, winning all six of their last games, so they will go into this match full of confidence against their near neighbours. Midfielder Lee Bolton will face a late fitness test, and Jerry Kapral will miss out because of injury, but other than this Kidlington should be at full strength. Kidlington will include 17 year old new signing Marvin Martin who is on 'Work Experience at the club from Oxford United where he is on a two year scholarship. Martin came on as a substitute during last Saturday win against Flackwell Heath, and impressed everyone with his obvious ability.

Kidlington, take on Flackwell Heath in the Christmas period fixture on tomorrow at Yarnton Road.

The home side have won their last three League matches. A total of five wins, including Cup competitions, since an unexpected home defeat by Harrow Hill on November 22nd, so they will go into this one full of confidence.

Striker Jimmy Deabill and defender Mark Flanagan are now fit, though Lee Bolton and Jerry Kapral miss out because of injury. Other than the injury to these two, Joint Manager Matt Hayward said: "The rest of the squad trained hard this week and looked really sharp, so we are hoping for the similar result to that we achieved at their place earlier in the season, when we won 4 - 1".

Kidlington from - Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Chris Baker, Emmett McGovern, Nick Bayliss, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Jamie Mundy, Callum McMahon, Daniel Craggs, Matt Hayward.

Signing For Kidlington - 19th December

Kidlington will include new signing Daniel Craggs when they take on Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division Side Stonesfield, in the Second Round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup at Yarnton Road tomorrow.

Craggs has transferred from fellow Hellenic Premier Division side Flackwell Heath. Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward said. "Signing Daniel will add further competition for places in the midfield and striking areas."

Kidlington have been going well of late, in their last three outings they beat Milton United, Ardley United and Shrivenham. Unfortunately their last two scheduled matches were lost to the weather, but that has given time for Lee Bolton, Jimmy Deabill and Mark Flanagan to rest and recover from injures they had sustained. All three of these players will face late fitness tests, but Hayward said that he felt "The three lads have trained this week and should be OK, but we will assess them on the day."

Kidlington did well in this competition last season, making all the way to the semi-final, going out only to the eventual winners North Leigh in extra time. It is expected to be a good match, as Stonesfield are one of Oxfordshire's up and coming sides. In fact it has been pointed out that this is the first time the two clubs first team's have ever met in competitive competition. Stonesfield will be looking to make their mark in local history by snatching a win against their Oxfordshire rivals.

Kidlington Squad: Matt Hutton, Lewis Gabbidon, Mark Flanagan, Stuart Cattell, Chris Baker, Emmett McGovern, Nick Bayliss, Denel Thomas, Adam Doyle, Lee Bolton, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Danny Wise, Adam Lovegrove, Jamie Mundy, Callum McMahon, Daniel Craggs, Matt Hayward.

Moved Up The Road - 28th November

Goalkeeper Gareth Tucker, who had been an ever present in Kidlington's starting line up this season, has left the club to join Ardley United. Ardley made him an offer, which he couldn't refuse. He leaves the club with everyone's thanks and best wishes.

When one door closes it is nearly always the case that another one opens. With Gareth leaving it's given a chance for Matt Hutton (right) to step up from the Reserves.

Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward said "Matt is a good strong young keeper. We are extremely lucky to have him available to come into the first team. He is not without experience, he was deputy to last season's keeper Steve Benbow, and stood in for him on several occasions last year."

Tomorrow  Kidlington entertain Division One East side Finchampstead in the 2nd  round of the SBJ Sports Insurance Challenge Cup at Yarnton Road.

Danny Wise is fit, but Lewis Gabbidon and Mark Flanagan will have to have late tests on injury's. Definitely out is Emmett McGovern because of work commitments.

Squad:- Hutton, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral,  Bayliss, Cattell, Doyle, Bolton, M.Baker, Deabill, Thomas, Mundy, Wise, C.Baker, Lovegrove , Thomas, Hayward.

Pour Some From The Cup - 20th November

Kidlington will want to take some of their cup form into the league match against Harrow Hill on Saturday. They have been doing well in the cup competitions this season, but their early season promise in the league, seems to have slipped away.

However a good 3 - 1 win at Holyport in the HPL Floodlit Cup mid-week has raised the team spirits again. Last Saturday's 2 - 1 defeat away to Pegasus Juniors was a hard pill to swallow. and this week Kidlington really do need to put in a performance against the Premier Division basement boys, because at the moment, they find themselves at the wrong end of the table. Some much needed points from this match would help the situation immensely though.

Good news for Kidlington, they will have Denel Thomas and Adam Doyle back, after the pair were unavailable for the trip to Holyport. Mark Flanagan, who also missed the trip because of injury will face a late fitness test, but his chances at this stage are rated only at 50/ 50.

Squad: Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral, Bayliss, Cattell, McGovern, Doyle, Bolton, M.Baker, Deabill, Thomas, Mundy, Wise, C.Baker, Lovegrove, Thomas.

Will A Cup Game Ease The Doldrums ? - 17th November

Kidlington have been struggling in the league of late, although they feel their recent matches have provided improved performances and hope for a result In tomorrows HPL Floodlit Cup.

It's now only one win in ten League outings. Last Saturday's 2 - 1 defeat away to Pegasus Juniors was a hard pill to swallow, especially after going in front in the 2nd minute. For the majority of the match Kidlington were the dominant team, and felt they certainly didn't deserve to travel back from Herefordshire without even a point.

When you have this sort of dominance, if you don't take the chances that are their for you, of which there were many, you are always susceptible to a the sucker punch, and that's exactly what happened. In Cup matches it's has been a different story, tomorrow Kidlington will travel to Holyport looking to get a result in the HPL Floodlit Cup, which will put the disappointment of the defeat to Pegasus well behind them. Kidlington are the holders of the Trophy and will certainly not want to relinquish their grip on it without a real fight.

Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward said " It's a strange position we now find ourselves in the League, I really don't feel that we are a bottom half team. Some things haven't been going our way of late, including a stone wall penalty that we should have been given at the weekend, when we were leading 1 - 0 "

"Still we have a good squad of players here, we will just have to ratchet it up another notch. The respite of a cup game tomorrow should hopefully give the lads a chance to express themselves, getting out there to blow the cobwebs away defending the trophy we worked so hard to win last season."

Team news is that everyone is available, Hayward and Kelvin Alexis have a full squad to pick from.

Squad: Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral, Bayliss, Cattell, McGovern, Doyle, Bolton, M.Baker, Deabill, Thomas, Mundy, Wise, C.Baker, Lovegrove, Thomas.

Pegasus Tomorrow - 14th November

Tomorrow FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Herefordshire to take on Pegasus Juniors in a league match KO 3:00pm.

Kidlington have recently rediscovered their early season form after back to back wins against Launton Sports, in the Challenge Cup, and then against title contenders Almondsbury Town in the league last Saturday. Last weekend Kidlington kept their first clean sheet in a league game since the opening day's scoreless draw, away to Marlow United.

Joint Manager Matt Hayward put this down to a good all round team performance, but singled out the defensive trio of Jerry Kapral, Stuart Cattell and Nick Bayliss, on his full debut for special praise. He said "the whole team played excellently, but with Nick (Bayliss) coming in at the back, we looked solid in this area, which is what we have been missing in the last few weeks."

During the week, Kidlington's scheduled league fixture away to Chalfont Wasps was postponed, because of problems with the floodlights at Chalfont St Peter's Stadium, where The Wasps ground share. Kidlington's Joint Management team of Hayward and Kelvin Alexis will be looking to keep this good run going, and will hope to record a decent result against Pegasus again, after having played them at Yarnton Road earlier in the season, gaining victory by 3 goals to 1.

Lee Bolton and Denel Thomas are available again after suspension, and Emmett McGovern and Adam Lovegrove are also in contention after the pair were unavailable last weekend.

Squad:- Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral, Bayliss, Cattell, McGovern, Doyle, Bolton, M.Baker, Deabill, Thomas, Mundy, Wise, C.Baker, Lovegrove.

Wasps On Wednesday - 11th November

Tomorrow night FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Chalfont St Peter to take on Chalfont Wasps in a league match.

Kidlington have recently rediscovered their early season form after back to back wins against, Launton Sports in the Challenge Cup, then against title contenders Almondsbury Town last Saturday. Kidlington's Joint Management team of Kelvin Alexis and Matt Heyward will be looking to keep this good run going, and will hope to get a decent result against The Wasps, another of this seasons title contenders.

At the weekend Kidlington kept their first clean sheet in a league game since the opening day's scoreless draw, away to Marlow United. Hayward put this down to a good all round team performance, but singled out the defensive trio of Jerry Kapral, Stuart Cattell and Nick Bayliss on his full debut for special praise. He said "the whole team played excellently, but with Nick (Bayliss) coming in at the back, we looked solid at the back, which is what we have been missing in the last few weeks."

Lee Bolton and Denel Thomas are available again after suspension, and Emmett McGovern and Adam Lovegrove are also in contention after the pair were unavailable at the weekend. Unfortunately for Kidlington, tricky winger Morgan Williams (pictured) will now be missing for the rest of the season. Williams is chasing his dream of travelling round the world. We wish him well and hope to see him back in the Green shirt of Kidlington once his wanderlust is over.

Squad:- Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral, Bayliss, Cattell, McGovern, Doyle, Bolton, M.Baker, Deabill, Thomas, Mundy, Wise, C.Baker, Lovegrove, Thomas.

Presently bottom of FTL Futbol Hellenic League Division One East, Launton are without a league win so far this season. Kidlington's own league form is none too special in recent times so the team will not be taking this game lightly, and will take a full squad to pick from.

Skipper Emmett McGovern, Danny Warne and Mark Flanagan all return, whilst the only noticeable absentee will be Denel Thomas who is suspended.

Team From:- Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral, C.Baker, Doyle, Warne, Cattell, McGovern, Bolton, M.Baker, Deabill, Williams, Mundy, Wise, Lovegrove, Hayward.

Kiddy Host The Wood - 23rd October

On Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington host Shortwood United at Yarnton Road in League action.

Last weekend Kidlington took their first league point since September the 6th when they drew 1 - 1 at Abingdon Town. During the week Kidlington returned to Culham Road for an HPL Floodlit Cup match. This time a goal late in extra time from Skipper Emmett McGovern earned them a deserved 2 - 1 win. For the mid-week cup match Kidlington were able to include new signing Stuart Cattell. Stuart is a 21 year old central defender. Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward stated that he was "Pleased with the way the team performed against a dogged and committed Abingdon side" and also "extremely pleased to progress to the next round of the Cup of which we are the holders."

Stuart Cattell (right) has joined Kidlington this week from BGB Southern League outfit Aylesbury United and made his Kiddy debut in the HPL Floodlit Cup tie win at Abingdon Town in the week. Stuart joined Aylesbury last February following his release by Wycombe Wanderers, where he spent four years coming through their youth system. After his release he quickly established himself at Aylesbury, and was a member of the 1st Team squad, in all making 14 appearances for them including four this season. He has previously spent time on loan with Oxford City. He was born in Oxford and was with Southampton as a school boy before joining Wycombe. Many local Clubs were after his signature but Kidlington were pleased he has opted to join them.

For the Shortwood match Kidlington will be without Jermaine McSporran who sustained medial ligament and cartilage damage in the 2 - 2 draw with Abingdon last Saturday. It goes without saying that all at Kidlington wish Jermaine a speedy and successful recovery and hope to see him back in the green shirt as soon as possible. Kidlington will also be without Captain Emmett McGovern who is away and Central defender Danny Warne has tonsillitis.
Marl Flanagan will be back after he missed the mid-week match.

Team From:- Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, Kapral, C.Baker, Doyle, Cattell, Bolton, M.Baker, Deabill, Williams, Thomas, Mundy, Wise, Lovegrove, Hayward

McSporran Out For Lengthy Period - 20th October

Jermaine McSporran was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital on Saturday following an injury sustained in the match at Abingdon Town during an FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division fixture.

It was diagnosed he has sustained medial ligament and cartilage damage, he also has bone fragments floating in the knee joint. This is a real blow for Jermaine who, during his professional career sustained cruciate ligament damage to both knees.

He missed most of last season with injury problems but was persuaded to come and play for Kidlington this season by the team General Manager Paul Lee. Jermaine has already received a nasty kick to his knee area and was unavailable to participate in last week’s midweek match against Witney United. However he reported that he was OK for the Abingdon match, but sustained his injury whilst going for a 50/50 ball in the midfield area. This was a purely accidental clash as the ball was there to be won by both players.

Jermaine was proving to be a real asset to the team, all at Kidlington wish Jermaine a speedy and successful recovery and hope to see him back in the green shirt as soon as he is able.

Tomorrow night it's back to Abingdon Town for an HPL Floodlit Challenge Cup fixture, Kick Off 7.30 pm.

Kidlington are the current holders of the trophy, will not want to let go of it without a fight, so hopefully will be on top form after the sides drew two all at the weekend with Abingdon twice pegging Kidlington back.

Joint Manager Matt Hayward stated that he was "Looking for an improved performance from his side". However he was not happy about the manor in which Kidlington gave Abingdon chances He stated. "We should be more clinical in front of goal and more decisive when defending"

Kidlington should have Emmett McGovern, Morgan Williams and Jerry Kapral back in the squad after the trio missed Saturday's match.

Kidlington Down By The River - 16th October

Kidlington are currently on a terrible run of league games and are now without a win in six matches as they prepare to take on Abingdon Town at Culham Road.

Kidlington put in good performance in midweek and were very unfortunate to lose 3 - 2 to Premier Division leaders Witney United. But that is how it has been going of late. The scoring return of striker Jimmy Deabill made a difference to the team on the night, and but for a brilliant performance from the Blanketmen's goalkeeper Jon Beames Kidlington would have surely got a deserved point from this match.

Kidlington's last couple of games have produced improved performances, but it has been silly mistakes again and again that have been letting them down. Joint Manager Matt Hayward stated that he was "Pleased with the entire teams' attitude, especially after going two down to Witney, and then to get back on level terms was excellent". However he was less than complementary about the way that Kidlington then gave Witney the chance to re-establish the lead again so soon after this and in the fashion they did so.

Jermaine McSporran should be available again after missing the midweek defeat because of injury. Kidlington have no other injury concerns going into this one, however team captain Emmett McGovern is still suspended and Morgan Williams and Jerry Kapral are both unavailable.

Team From:- Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, C.Baker, Doyle, Warne, Bolton, M.Baker, Deabill, Thomas, McSporran, Wise, Lovegrove, Baylis, Hayward.

The Return of Big Jimmy - 15th October

Striker Jimmy Deabill has returned to FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington. Deabill started this season with Kidlington, which is his home base club, but after some impressive early season performances was persuaded to try his luck at a higher level with BGB Southern League side Abingdon United.

It was a heart wrenching decision for Deabill when he left and he always maintained that if it was not working out he would return, as Kidlington kept his Hellenic registration.

After a month with Abingdon United he decided that things were not going as he would have liked and has returned to the home fold. Deabill said he was “delighted to be back and can’t wait to pull on the green shirt again, get back into the team and start scoring goals for Kidlington again”.

"Big Jim" played in last nights' match against current Hellenic Premier Division leaders Witney United at Yarnton Road. The striker scored in the 72nd minute, taking the score line to 2-2, but Gary Wickens scored the winner for the visitors two minutes later.

Kidlington Tackle 'Top Dogs' - 13th October

Tomorrow night Kidlington entertain FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division leader's Witney United in a League fixture at Yarnton Road K.O. 7:45 pm.

After a bright start to the campaign Kidlington are currently on a terrible run of league matches without a win as they prepare to take on an in form Witney United side at Yarnton Road this Tuesday. Although their last couple of games have produced improved performances, it has been silly mistakes that have been letting them down.

Joint Manager Matt Hayward said that he was "extremely pleased at the way the team have generally applied themselves in their last two outings, against Cheltenham Saracens in the Challange Cup and at Hungerford at the weekend". However he reaffirmed his belief that "if we can cut out the silly mistakes then we will be able to turn the corner and get back to winning ways".

Kidlington have no injury concerns going into this one, but Emmett McGovern is missing because of suspension.

Team From:- Tucker, Kapral, Gabbidon, Flanagan, C.Baker, Doyle, Warne, Bolton, M.Baker, Williams, Thomas, McSporran, Wise, Lovegrove, Hayward.

Tough Challenge at Hungerford - 9th October

FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division Kidlington travel to promotion hopefuls' Hungerford Town in the league on Saturday, and will be looking to get something from the fixture.

Kiddy did not succumb for the first seven league games of the season, but have lost the last three league games, and had not won a game in all competitions since September 6th. But fortunes changed on Tuesday night with a 3 - 0 victory away to Cheltenham Saracens in the Preliminary Round of the SBJ Insurance Brokers Hellenic Challenge Cup. Kidlington will be looking to bring this form into this Saturday's league match.

Joint Manager Matt Hayward said: "I was extremely pleased at the way the team played, scoring three without reply was an excellent reward and a job well done. Just the confidence builder the team needed ahead of a couple of tough matches against Hungerford this Saturday and then mid-week against Witney United."

Kidlington also have Jerry Kapral (left) back in the squad for the first time in 6 weeks, he was able to come on as a second half substitute against Cheltenham.

Jermaine Mcsporran, Denel Thomas, Lee Bolton and Danny Wise all return to the squad after missing the midweek win. Missing for the trip will be Captain Emmett McGovern because of suspension and Jamie Mundy who is unavailable.

Team from: Tucker, Kapral, Gabbidon, Flanagan, C.Baker, Doyle, Warne, Bolton, M.Baker, Williams, Thomas, McSporran, Wise, Lovegrove, Hayward.

Not An Easy Ride - 2nd October

Premier Division Kidlington travel to FTL Futbol Hellenic Division One West Wootton Bassett on Saturday, in the First Round Proper of The F.A. Vase sponsored by Carlsberg

Kidlington will be looking to put their disappointing league form of late behind them and get back to winning ways in this cup tie. In the last round of this competition Kidlington were in blistering form when they dispatched current Hellenic Premier League Leaders Chalfont Wasps 2 -1 aet.

Wootton Bassett are currently lying sixth from bottom in Division One West, but this is no guide to the teams' form. Their league fixtures have been few, only three since the start of the season. Cup games have dominated the early season fixtures for the side, which is a truer guide. In six cup games so far they drew with Premier Division Flackwell Heath in The FA Cup before losing in the replay, despatched Buckingham Athletic and Henley Town in The FA Vase, caused upset against Premier Division sides Harrow Hill and Hook Norton respectively in the Floodlit and Challenge Cups.

So it will be a. FA Vase game that Kidlington will be treating as no easy ride.

Jermaine McSporran returns to the squad after missing the midweek defeat to Highworth Town.

Team From:- Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, C.Baker, McGovern, Doyle, Warne, Bolton, M.Baker, Williams, Thomas, McSporran, Mundy, Wise, Bayliss, Lovegrove

Looking To Get Back On Track - 29th September

Kidlington entertain Highworth Town tomorrow night in a FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division fixture at Yarnton Road (K.O. 7:45pm)

Kidlington will be looking to rediscover their early season form after back to back defeats to Carterton and Fairford. Unable to find the net in either of the two matches, to try and solve the goal drought the management team of Kelvin Alexis and Matt Heyward will be looking for an improvement in the quality of service to the strikers.

Lee Bolton returns to the squad after missing the weekend defeat, but Jerry Kapral is still sidelined with an ankle injury.

Team From:- Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, C.Baker, McGovern, Doyle, Warne, Bolton, M.Baker, Williams, Thomas, McSporran, Mundy, Wise, Bayliss, Lovegrove

McSporran Signs For Kidlington - 26th September

FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington have signed former Wycombe Wanderers and Doncaster Rovers striker Jermaine McSporran.

McSporran was with BGB Southern League Premier Division side Oxford City last season. Kidlington's General Manager Paul Lee said he was "very please that Jermaine had agreed to re-sign for for the club for whom he made a handful of appearances in season 2006-2007". McSporren is a powerful player and will come straight into the starting line up for tomorrow's league match against Fairford Town at Yarnton Road K.O. 3:00 pm.

Kidlington's Management have acted quickly to fill the gap left by the recent departures of Jimmy Deabill and Danny Clarke, especially after witnessing their dour midweek defeat to Carterton Town. Matt Heyward said that "we had other seven day approaches in at the moment and are extremely hopeful of bringing in others to bolster the squad". Although nothing can be announced as yet there should be more news on this after the weekend.

In other news from the club. Kidlington U18's Youth Team won their F.A. Youth Cup first qualifying round match at home to Chesham United Youth 3 - 2 aet last night. In a tight first half Jordan Parker opened the scoring in the 24th minute. Chesham's Tom Kennedy equalised in the second period before Sam Fincher restored Kidlington's lead. Kennedy scored his second late on to send the match into extra time. Midway through the second half of this extra time Tom Castle netted the winner after a goal mouth scramble and Kidlington hung on to record a memorable victory. A good size crowd was present to watch the match and Kidlington now go on to face Banbury United Youth in the next round of the competition.

Kidlington Looking To Improve - 25th September

After their mid-week defeat to Carterton Town, Kidlington will be looking to bounce back to form in this weekend against Fairford.

Tuesday evening left Kidlington were left wondering if it was the same on the park that had overcome league leaders Chalfont Wasps in the FA Vase last Saturday. Matt Hayward stated that he thought the Carterton match. "Really was a case of after the Lord Mayor's show. I felt that the team after doing reasonably well in the first half resorted to bad habits once they went behind early in the second period and that is what ultimately cost them".

For the Fairford match. team captain Emmett McGovern looks to be out of contention because of the injury he picked up against Carterton, other than this Hayward reports. “We should have a full squad to pick from”.

Team From:- Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, C.Baker, McGovern, Doyle, Warne, Bolton, M.Baker, Williams, Thomas, Mundy, Wise, Bayliss, Lovegrove, Kapral

Sub Lovegrove Shows Squad Depth - 23rd September

Tonight FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Carterton for a league match K.O. 7:30pm. Kidlington bounced back to form last weekend beating table topping Chalfont Wasps 2 - 1 (aet) in the FA Vase at Yarnton Road.

Kidlington will travel to Carterton with a renewed optimism but are expecting a tough match against another near neighbour. Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward said after the Vase win that he was “delighted at the way the team had performed, especially after the events that had gone on last week, with both striker Jimmy Deabill and winger Danny Clarke leaving the club”. He went on to say that “although these players had gone it was now a case of as one door shuts another opens in respect opportunities for other players”.

This was highlighted when Adam Lovegrove came on as a second half substitute, making his first appearance for the club and scoring the all important equalising goal against Chalfont. “Lovegrove played extremely well and could have had more than just this one goal had luck been with him”. Hayward added. “The whole team’s performance was exceptional especially after the sending off’s that occurred. I felt they adapted better to the situation and showed a greater desire and fitness levels within our squad.

For the Carterton match defender Jerry Kapral looks to be out of contention because of the ankle injury he picked up against Old Woodstock Town a couple of weeks ago has not yet responded to treatment, but other than this Hayward reports that “we should be at full squad to pick from”. It was good that midfielder Adam Doyle completed the full 120 minutes on Saturday without a reaction to his back injury.

Team From: Tucker, Gabbidon, Flanagan, C.Baker, McGovern, Doyle, Warne, Bolton, M.Baker, Williams, Thomas, Mundy, Wise, Bayliss, Lovegrove, Kaple.

Table Toppers At Kidlington - 18th September

On Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Kidlington entertain shock table-toppers Chalfont Wasps in an FA Vase match at Yarnton Road K.O. 3:00pm.

After loosing their unbeaten league record against a hard working Wantage Town side last weekend Kidlington bounced back with a mid-week victory against a strong Oxford United XI on Wednesday evening. Kidlington's goals all coming in the first half were scored by Chris Baker, Morgan Williams and Danny Wise. This win was all the more pleasing because earlier in the week striker Jimmy Deabill and winger Danny Clarke had opted to leave their Home Town Club for other local teams. Deabill has moved to Southern League side Abingdon United, whilst Clarke who was the subject of a seven day approach from Hellenic Premier Division rivals Ardley United was made an offer that he just couldn't refuse and we at Kidlington did not want to stand in his way.

Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward (pictured) said "it was extremely disappointing to loose two such influential players from our squad". He added that "he understood why the lads had chosen to leave especially Deabill who is still young and in his development phase and wished to try his luck at a higher level, as for Clarke he was given an offer from Ardley which we could not come close to matching". We wish them pair well at their new clubs and they both leave Kidlington Football Club on the best of terms.

On the injury front Adam Doyle successfully came through 90 minutes against Oxford United whilst Jerry Kapral who injured his ankle a couple of weeks back was unable to participate and is defiantly looking a doubtful starter for the Wasps match.

Another ‘Tuff Nut’ for Kidlington - 11th September

On Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier side Kidlington entertain Wantage Town at Yarnton Road K.O. 3:00pm.

After the recent hard fought mid-week home draw against Ardley United Kidlington are now the only team left unbeaten in the Premier Division with three wins and four draws. With the form Kidlington are showing at the moment they will go into this match full of confidence. But against a side like Wantage you know you are always going to be at your best to beat them.

Kidlington Joint Manager Matt Hayward said that "The draw against Ardley was all the more pleasing because of the way it was attained. We had far more chance to score during the 90 minutes against our visitors but found their keeper in inspired form, so with time running out we had to do something special to get anything out of the match and that 25 yard strike from Denel Thomas was just that".

On the down side Kidlington have suffered a couple of injuries in the last week with Jerry Kapral who injured his ankle last weekend, and subsequently missed the midweek match looking a doubtful starter. There will also be late fitness tests for Danny Warne and Adam Doyle.

Yarnton Road Welcomes Ardley - 8th September

Tomorrow evening FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington are at home to Ardley United in the League. K.O. 7:45pm at Yarnton Road.

This will be another tough match against another near neighbour. In the past week Kidlington have had a local derby aginst Bicester Town at Yarnton Road, that resulted in a 1 - 1 draw, and then last Saturday a 2 - 1 victory was gained away to Premier Division new boys Old Woodstock Town.

Tomorrow defender Jerry Kapral will face a late fitness test after injuring his ankle in the match against Woodstock, but other than this Joint Manager Matt Hayward reports that we will be at full strength.

Hayward went on to add that he and Kelvin Alexis were: "Very pleased at the way things have been going on the pitch so far this season. The Woodstock victory was very pleasing because of the way the team performed throughout the match and the quality of the two goals".

He added: "I am really looking forward to the match against Ardley because our they are managed this season by Ex-Banbury United Manager Kevin Brock, who I played under when I was with the Puritans"

Kidlington Visit The Neighbours? - 4th September

On Saturday FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington are away to Old Woodstock Town in a league fixture K.O. 3:00pm.

This season Woodstock are ground sharing with Southern League Club Abingdon United at Northcourt Road until their New Road Ground meets the requirements for a club at step 5 of the national football system.

Another tough match is expected against another near neighbour after the midweek draw with Bicester Town. Kidlington will have Jerry Kapral back for this one after he was delayed in London by traffic problems for the Bicester game and missed the match. Chris Baker (pictured) who received a knock in midweek should recover so Kidlington will be at full strength.

Team News from Kiddy - 1st September

On Tuesday Kidlington entertain Bicester Town at Yarnton Road K.O. 7:45pm and the number of Assessors might exceed the number of players involved as the Oxfordshire FA are using this match as a Referee Assessor In Service Training evening.

This is expected to be a tough game between near neighbours as last season the two league games yielded only one point for Kidlington who are hoping to extend the good start to the season and register a win. Kidlington’s next three games are all against local sides starting with Bicester, followed by Old Woodstock Town away next Saturday then Ardley United at home the following Tuesday.

Last Saturday was thoroughly disappointing for all at Kidlington to be knocked out of this season’s FA Cup. Kidlington joint manager Matt Hayward said "For 60 minutes we did really well, but after going two goals up we seemed to loose concentration as Almondsbury pushed forward. Before we knew it they were level which seemed to knock the stuffing out of the players. As for the penalty – well that should never have been given. I can’t say that the ball didn’t touch Denel Thomas' hand as it did but its all about intent and there was none. The Referee in my opinion made a howler in awarding the spot kick".

Kiddy up for the Cup - 29th August

This Saturday Kidlington entertain Almondsbury Town in an FA Cup Preliminary Round tie at Yarnton Road - K.O. 3:00pm.

Managed by the partnership of Matt Hayward and Kelvin Alexis, Kidlington have had an unbeaten start to the season and after their two August Bank Holiday wins against Pegasus Juniors and Flackwell Heath, who were themselves previously unbeaten, will go into this cup match with their confidence sky high.

After a good 4 - 1 win against Sandhurst Town in the last round, Kidlington will be looking to progress to the competition's Qualifying Rounds, for the first time in the clubs' 99 year history.

Striker Jimmy Deabill and defender Mark Flanagan will both be fit after coming off the bench and playing pivotal rolls in the win at Flackwell. Denel Thomas, right, who has rejoined the club from Abingdon United, is also available and Kidlington have no new injury worries, so will go into the match with a full strength squad.
