Bone Takes Reins At The Heights -25th February

Milton United has instigated a change in their First Team Management by appointing Andy Bone as team manager with Harry 'Banjo' Malcolm as assistant manager.

Kevin Lloyd has stood down and becomes a member of Milton United Committee with specific responsibilities on a number of ventures on behalf of Milton United. Club Chairman Barry Griffiths advised; “Kevin was instrumental in getting Andy Bone to join Milton, in fact it was he who recommended and introduced Andy Bone to the club because he was so impressed by his coaching credentials and contacts”.

It is anticipated there will be some player movement with a new manager being appointed and it is Andy's assertion that he can retain the club’s Premier status for next season. All at Milton United are committed and passionate about wanting to see Milton do well in the Hellenic League.

Oxford Leaving ‘The Heights’ - 13th February

Oxford United will have a new training base next season. After three years of using Milton United’s facilities at Milton Heights, the U’s will move to Chesterton, the home of Bicester & North Oxford Cricket Club, in July, after reaching agreement with the Bicester Sports Association.

They will now have five training pitches, a clubhouse and changing facilities for up to eight teams at their disposal. The main reason behind the move is location – with the majority of United’s players living north of the county.

“We have enjoyed the three years we have been based at Milton and would like to thank them for their support and help throughout that time,” said United chairman Kelvin Thomas. “We will continue to work closely with them, but at the same time we are very excited to be linking up with the Bicester Sports Association. Chesterton is ideally located just off the M40 and close to the city of Oxford, so it has good access, and the facilities are first-class. We will work with them to make sure everything is in place for when the players report back for pre-season.”

Barry Griffiths, Milton United chairman, said there were no hard feelings. “I can only say what a pleasure it’s been to work with Oxford United for three seasons and we wish them well for the future,” he said. “We have enjoyed having them around and they are welcome here any time.”

The down side for the FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier side is the loss of funding that had previously been available to Milton United to assist with the cost of playing at Step Five of the National League System. Hopefully the money from the three season’s tenure at Milton will have been put to good use!

Signings At Milton - 23rd October

Milton United have finally signed central defender Tom Smith from Abingdon Town after protracted negotiations with his former club. Also recently signed is Jon Stott from Wantage Town. Milton have signed left back Jon Steedman on a months loan from Witney United.

Milton United Manager Kevin Lloyd said, "Having suffered so many injuries across the back four since the start of the season it was imperative to bolster the squad in that area. In Tom Smith and Stotty we have two lads over six foot that will add height and steel to the defence. Other players have played out of position to help out and for that I'm grateful but we needed some high quality, experienced players to fill those positions. I'm grateful to Andy Lyne of Witney for loaning Jon Steedman to us for a month as he is a centre back with a sweet left foot that has fitted straight in at left back"

Keyes For Milton - 3rd September

FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division Milton United confirm the signing of centre forward Lee Keyes.

Goal scorer Keyes, has been out of Hellenic Football for the past 9 months, for many seasons he was a key part of the Witney United team. Keyes moved to Highworth Town at the start of last season, then signed for Ardley United in December though possibly only featuring in one game before deciding to take a spell out of the Hellenic League.

The strikers goal scoring record speaks for itself, in season2002 /2003 he scored 18 goals in 34 games in all Hellenic competitions for Old Woodstock Town. With Witney United he achieved 60 in 92 games in three spells with the club between 2003 and 2007. 24 goals in 35 games for North Leigh in season 2006/7. During the time frames he signed for Oxford City for a period where also found the net.

Milton manager Kevin Lloyd said "I am very pleased to secure Lee's signature as I am building a new team here at Milton. Lee brings a great goalscoring record and will undoubtedly help an already potent Milton strike force with some extra goals". Keyes makes his Milton United debut on Saturday against Brockenhurst in The FA Vase sponsored by Eon.

Lamont Brings His Experience to Milton United - 23rd June

Milton United announce that the experienced Peter Lamont will be joining them this season as Director of Football of the FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier club.

After many years on the front line as a manager at many different levels, and having lived through the trials and tribulation at AFC Wallingford last season, Pete has decided to take a step back from the pressure cooker of day to day team management and assume a once removed role as Director of Football at Milton United.

Milton United Chairman Barry Griffiths said, "We are very, very pleased to have Pete joining us at Milton. We know for a fact that he has been approached by a number of other interested clubs, keen to secure his services as manager. He has chosen Milton because he badly wants to stay involved with football and the role of Director of Football will suit him ideally as it will release him from the pressure of day to day involvement with the team and the players".

New first team manager Kevin Lloyd said "I have known Pete for many years and was instrumental in getting him to join us and strengthen the team here at Milton. He has a wealth of experience at this, and higher levels, and I know that I can call on him for advice when I need to throughout the season". Pete will assume the role immediately but it will commence officially once ratified at the AGM on the 7th July

Milton United Football also announce that Roger Bartlett has agreed to join the FTL Futbol Hellenic Premier outfit as the new Facilities Manager.

Chairman Griffiths states. "It's probably the most important role in the club. Roger, once proposed and seconded at the forthcoming AGM, will be assuming overall responsibility for all facilities including the clubhouse and all that it contains and ensuring that the club remains compliant in terms of Health and Safety and Fire regulations. Roger is particularly suited to the role as he is a professional facilities manager for local government and brings with him a wealth of local contacts and experience to the role. He is also very knowledgeable regarding football having played professionally in his youth and having managed locally at Harwell International for the last four years. Best of all he has a wicked sense of humour which will stand him in good stead over the coming months. I trust that everyone will welcome him and make him feel part of the ever growing family."

Sid Tyndall - 17th June

Milton United Football Club sadly advise the passing of lifelong club stalwart and good friend Sid Tyndall. Sid died quietly in his sleep on Monday 9th June having celebrated his 82nd birthday back in December.

He was a keen footballer in his time and he played for Milton from the age of 22 right through until he became involved with the committee on which he served for more than 25 years serving as secretary, treasurer, fixture secretary, and latterly keen supporter. He leaves a widow Pamela, a son Barry age 47, and three grandchildren.

The funeral sevice will be held at Ewelme village church on Friday 20th June at 2.00p.m. Mourners can then go to the village hall for refreshments. Pam would rather have donations for Sobel House than flowers.
