Stability & Direction - 17th April

hellenic league dave tyler cirencester unitedCirencester United manager Dave Tyler has targeted team stability and a push in the right direction next year as another tough Hellenic League Division One West season comes to an end.

After a couple of last minute defeats in recent matches where their performances have arguably warranted more, most notably Wednesday’s 3-2 home reversal against Cricklade Town, the boss explained he is already planning for the 2010/11 campaign.

Despite their lowly position, Ciren look set to be plying their trade in the Hellenic League once again after two clubs dropped out during the season and Launton Sports requested to leave in the summer. Tyler said: “The spirit is still there with the lads, and they played well during the game on Wednesday. It’s just that we let some sloppy goals in during the last five minutes of the match and it killed us. We have a good strong team for next year and I’m keen to stay on to lead them. It’s literally just a case of pushing the team in the right direction and building some stability in the team. Several players interested in coming to the club, and we’re also working on sorting out a ground share with another club. So things are looking positive for next year.”

The first match falls to the weather. How many more?

New Ciren Striker - 4th December

Richie Miles has signed on for the club after a period away from football and, having notched a hat-trick in the reserves last week, the hitman goes straight into the starting line-up for tomorrow’s clash with Letcombe. “It’s a real luxury to have a centre forward come in,” said Tyler. “A lot of clubs are craving one at the moment.”

Keeper Sought - 30th October

Cirencester United goalkeeper Colin Buckingham has suffered broken a leg in an unfortunate acciden, not related to football at the club.

It leaves manager Dave Tyler looking for a temporary replacement keeper for the team. If any club is able to allow a temporary transfer of a player, or any keeper non-aligned to an Hellenic League club who may be able to assist, could they please contact Cirencester United secretary, Gordon Varley, as soon as possible. Ciren are without a fixture this weekend so it allows the club a little time to find a replacement. Colin Buckinham had been in good form this season, earning many M-o-M awards, all at the club wish him a speedy recovery.

Cirencester United Manager Dave Tyler recently presented his player of the month award to Chris Allen.

Allen is the a powerhouse in the hard working midfield of the FTL Futbol Hellenic League Division One West side, in the six games since Tyler took over the player was voted the oppositions man of the match twice and has also scored intwice in that period.

Since Dave Tyler took over he has rebuilt the side and Chris is one of a few that remained in the managers plans. Not only has Tyler rebuild the team, he as brought many good ideas forward, one of them being his player of the month, and a few fund raising suggestions, which are always welcome. During the short period the best result so far was the 1-1 draw with Wootton Bassett, but Tyler is looking forward winning games when all his squad are available to him, hopefully tomorrow against Clanfield might be the start.

Win To Spare? - 18th September

Cirencester United, who are one of only two teams who have yet to find a win in Division One West this season, go to Letcombe for a league match.

Ciren are only kept off the bottom sport by Launton's woeful form but they have the league's worst defensive record after conceding 33 goals – 23 in their last four games.

Letcombe are in the bottom six after a winless three game run that continued with a 2-0 defeat at home to Lydney Town last week.

The Thieving $&*%!! - 4th September

Cirencester United Club secretary Gordon Varley went to mark the club's pitch on Friday, ready for Saturday's reserve team game versus Chinnor, only to find thieves have stolen the line marker, a couple of phone calls later and he was picking one up from near neighbours Siddington FC then it was back to the ground and pitch marked, a job that took two hours instead of the normal 45minutes.

Any one with a disused marker please contact the club secretary, meanwhile our thanks to Simon Gardner and Mathew Sykes of Siddington F.C. The military security personnell are now sifting through CCTV footage in the hope of spotting the thieves.

The pre-season preparations of FTL Futbol Hellenic One West side Cirencester United has been thrown into disarray due to the manager Chokri Kartit having to fly home to be at his father's bedside following a major operation.

Senior Players have been left in charge of the pre-season friendlies but they have struggled to contact all players, so have been forced to play weekend teams. It is hoped the manager will return shortly and certainly in time for the season's first match at 'Home' to Harrow Hill on Wednesday 12th August.
