KIDLINGTON F C NEWS

hellenic league gordon geary kidlingtonGeary Commits - 30th May

Kidlington Football Club are extremely please to announce that their current 1st Team Manager Gordon Geary along with his management team of Paul Harwood, Keith Appleton and Gary Johnson have all agreed to continue with their duties for season 2011-2012.

Kidlington Chairman Lloyd Wray said "I'm delighted that they had agreed to continue. Gordon and his team led Kiddy to what was probably their best season ever season where they finished a creditable 7th in the league table. They won the Hellenic Supplementary Cup and were runners up in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, where they were beaten by a strong Oxford United side at the Kassam Stadium in front of a large crowd. It is hoped that Geary and his team will build on last seasons success with their young squad for this coming season, which will now be their 3rd in charge".

Other news sees Barry Hiles stepping down as Reserve Team Manager. Barry will stay with the club but move into a new roll to assist at all training sessions along with the other club coaches. He will also take on a new roll of fitness coach/trainer. When the new reserve team manager is confirmed this will be a subject of a separate announcement

Mick Trafford has agreed to be the Under 18 youth team manager again for season 2011-2012. Mick will once again be assisted by Daryl Connely and Alex Knox, however this season they will be also joined by Steve Alexander. Steve has been assisting Daryl at boys level within the village and comes with a wealth of experience with these players that will be stepping up. The management team are looking forward to the new season as they believe they will have a strong group of players who can progress together in what will be their new look youth team.

Next Saturday 4th June Kidlington will be holding their annual end of season presentation evening at Yarnton Road, with an expected attendance of over 120 players, officials, supporters, wife's and girlfriends.

Golf Challenge - 14th May

After winning the Uhlsport Hellenic Supplementary Cup last Saturday afternoon Kidlington were able to celebrate by taking to the golf course the next morning by staging their annual Golf Challenge match the 'Kidlington Open'.

The competition took place over 18 holes at Oxford's Hinksey Heights golf course. On arrival everyone enjoyed a bacon roll with coffee or tea before making there way to the first tee. 41 players in total teed off on what was a windy morning which also looked to be threatening rain showers. However in the event the dark clouds never delivered there promised downpour, and everyone was thankful for that.

The course at Hinksey was a real test, especially with those high winds, but this didn't dampen anyone spirits with the banter especially good out there on the course with all participants thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

After the 18 holes everyone eventually met back at Hinksey's recently revamped club house to enjoy a meal of ham, egg and chips washed down with a few well earned pints of beer. Competition organiser Alan Woods said. "Some fine golf was played on the day", and he was able to announce that it had been a close run thing as to who was this years champion. The winner was young Tommy Burrows who carded a stableford score of 36 points playing off a 16 handicap, he just beat Kidlington FC groundsman Martin Baker who had carded a 35 playing off 11. Tied for 5th place was Kidlington's honourable secretary Dave Platt who carded a very creditable points tally of 34 playing off 22.

Other winners were Bryan McNamara for Nearest the pin and Tommy Burrows again for nearest the pin in 2 shots.

It was a fantastic day, although it had been extremely tricky playing in such high and unpredictable winds.

Last Chance for Honour's - 5th May

On Saturday Uhlsport Hellenic Premier side Kidlington will play Hellenic Division One West side Purton in the final of the Hellenic Supplementary Cup at Abingdon Town's Culham Road ground, 3:00pm K.O.

This Cup Final will be the clubs' last chance of securing an honour this season. Geary stated after a final training session on Wednesday evening. "We will be going all out to win this one, we have a couple of players missing, but I'm still able to put out a very strong side".

Kidlington will be without long term injury victims Ben Weedon, Brad Chalmers and Chris Harper. Also missing will be Danny Mason, Jordan Parker and Rob Hambling who are away on holiday, and Big Jimmy Deabill will miss out because he is attending a wedding. Geary will have Tommy Castle and Christian Perkins back in contention and has added youth team keeper Lewis Kemp and defender Richard Brooks to the squad.

Squad - Tom McNamara, Lewis Kemp, Chris Weedon, Tom Castle, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Flanagan, Ryan Curtin, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Richard Brooks & Paul Harwood.

Kidlington Awaits- 3rd May

Everyone at Kidlington FC is really looking forward Saturday May 7 and another chance to capture some silverware from this fantastic season.

Kidlington press officer Simon Dickens says ." It annoys me that various people have maligned the Hellenic Supplementary Cup competition and call it the losers cup, but I would willingly put money on most of the other teams within the Hellenic set-up wanting to swap places with ourselves or Purton today, to then have a chance of wining a cup. Simply you have to be in it to win it and that's what our two sides will be battling it out for this afternoon (May 7)."

"Kidlington have had a fabulous season where we have been in contention for the Premier Division crown all season, only falling away at the final few hurdles, staying in the top 3 positions in the table for most of it. It's been no mean achievement for Gordon Geary and his assistants that they have steered this young side to an eventual 7th place in the table and two cup finals. This is KFC's second final (and last match of the season) as Kiddy also took part in this years Oxfordshire Senior Cup Final where we played against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium last month. This was the 1st time in our clubs 100 year history that we reached the final of this competition and it was a fantastic occasion. The crowd of over 1200 spectators did their best to cheers us on, but after holding our more illustrious neighbours for over an hour eventually their fitness and professionalism shone through and they beat us 4 – 0. However we weren't disgraced and their management afterwards only had praise for the way Kiddy had played and conducted ourselves".

"As I mentioned earlier we finally finished 7th in the table and it really could and probably should have been so much better. Kiddy were right up there with all the challengers until the last month of the season, when unfortunately we suffered a couple of injuries and suspension and slight of loss of form. After defeats at Thame and then at Bracknell we fell away from the chasing pack. Up until that point I really thought we were in with a decent shout of taking the title, but it wasn't to be."

"In this Supplementary Cup we have beaten an all Premier Division line up of Oxford City Nomads 5 – 0, Old Woodstock Town 2 – 1, Binfield 4 – 2 and then our old rivals Witney United 3 – 2 aet in the semi final. All our matches before the semi were played away from home and as we were chasing the league and a place in the Senior Cup Final as well it has been a very congested time for us all. Still we come here today in reasonable shape after a weeks rest and we will be hoping to give a good account of our selves this afternoon."

"Our congratulations go out to our opponents Purton for making it to this stage of the competition. They have had a fairly decent season and finished in 6th place in their Division. They had a super win in their semi final against Premier Division side Ascot 4 – 3, no mean achievement especially as it was away from home. So well done to them and I know we will have to be aware of their challenge today. I really used to enjoy my trips over to their 'Red House' ground a few seasons back, always plenty of banter with their vociferous home supporters who stand all along the side of the pitch, and am hopefully looking forward to some more of this today?"

Kidlington await fitness checks on a couple of players before the squad for the final will be released.

Cup Semi-Final - 26th April

Kidlington will host Witney United in the semi-final of the Hellenic Supplementary Cup at Yarnton Road on Wednesday evening, KO 7:45pm.

This is the second time these two sides will have met in the last five days. The sides played out a league match in stiflingly hot conditions at Yarnton Road last Saturday with Witney winning and gaining the point they needed to ensure their Hellenic Premier Division survival. On that day Kidlington did not play well at all and will certainly be looking to exact some revenge for this loss. Kidlington will have Tommy Castle and Tom Woodbridge back in their squad, however, Ben Weedon is still out with a hamstring injury.

Squad - Tom McNamara, Rob Hamling, Chris Weedon, Tom Castle, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Jimmy Deabill, Chris Harper, Ryan Curtin, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Jordan Parker.

Last Three Games At Home - 21st April

Kidlington will host Witney United for a league match at Yarnton Road this Saturday afternoon, the first of an Easter triple header with all the games being played at Yarnton Road. Kiddy face Witney on Saturday then Thame United on Monday, also a 3:00pm k.o. which completes the clubs league programme for this season. On the following Wednesday evening Kiddy host Witney again, this time in the Semi Final of the Hellenic Supplementary Cup, k.o. 7:45pm.

Like the majority of sides in the Premier Division, Kiddy have had a tough time of it in these closing few weeks of the season playing basically three games every week. This has necessitated plenty of squad rotation and of course there have been the usual injuries and suspensions, not to mention unavailability. This has to be overcome and although still hampered by injuries to several key players Kiddy come into the first of these three matches on the back of a three game winning streak.

Kidlington's title aspirations, and they were high at one point, drifted away a few weeks back after three defeats in 4 matches against Thame, Bracknell and Binfield. Although disappointed by this Kiddy did have the final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup to look forward to. Unfortunately this again ended in defeat against a very strong Oxford United side. Kiddy should still take a top six finish if they do well in these games and can feel justifiably proud of this achievement, but it could have been oh so much better.

Witney are one of Kidlington's nearest neighbours and games against them are always close, keenly fought affairs. We played the ''Blanket Boys back in September, winning 2 - 1 at Marriotts, Close and will certainly be looking for a repeat on Saturday.

On Monday Kidlington will be looking to revenge the 3 - 1 defeat they suffered against Thame at their new ground back in March. This defeat started the chain of three disappointing result's which led to Kiddy dropping out of the title race. Beating Thame is high on Manager Gordon Geary's agenda to achieve as high a league finish as possible.

Kidlington should have have the injured trio of Mark Flanagan, Danny Mason and Jack Quainton back in the squad. However it unlikely that Ben Weedon will have recovered from his hamstring injury and he will not be in contention. Tommy Castle is on holiday and will miss both matches whilst Tom Woodbridge is unavailable for Saturday because of work commitments but will be o.k. for Monday's.

Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Jimmy Deabill, Chris Harper, Ryan Curtin, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Jordan Parker.

U's Assistant Boss Hails Minnows - 14th April

Mickey Lewis hailed the efforts of Kidlington’s players after they put up a brave fight against Oxford United in Tuesday night’s Oxfordshire Senior Cup final at the Kassam Stadium.

Although a strong U’s line-up eventually triumphed 4-0, with second-half goals from Mitchell Hanson, Ryan Burge, Simon Heslop and Alfie Potter, United’s assistant manager was full of praise for the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division underdogs.

“It’s nice to win it, but tonight was all about the game rather than the result,” said Lewis. “I thought Kidlington were great. We have set high standards at this club and, without taking anything away from Kidlington, I didn’t think we were good enough in the first half. Perhaps our players took them too lightly, because Kidlington are a good side and we nearly got punished. Fitness was bound to come into it, but in the second half I thought we passed the ball better and quicker.”

Kiddy Look Forward To Final - 10th April

Ahead of Kidlington's first ever appearance in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup Final (Kassam Stadium Tuesday 12th April, 7.45pm) Manager Gordon Geary reports with the exception of Danny Mason who is suspended and a couple of knocks picked up in the last game before the final, his squad will be tested but is confident the players will give their all on the night.

It sounds like there's a lot of local interest in the match so hopefully a decent sized crowd will be there on the night to cheer Kidlington on. The management, squad, committee plus all others associated with Kidlington FC are determined to enjoy the match and the night as a whole. These opportunities don't come along too often so we'll be savouring every moment.

Oxford United will clearly be favourites for this, so Kidlington have nothing to lose. Kidlington have earned their right to the final with victories over Headington Amateurs, Ardley United, Thame United, Oxford City Nomads and Carterton. Having come through a tough season playing four games in the last eight days the squad has been severely tested of late, but they've come through and will be relishing this opportunity.

Then of course it's back to domestic action with a Supplementary Cup Quarter Final away at Binfield two nights later, with one days rest before we're back to league action at home to Ascot United on Saturday. So another hectic week for all at the club, making it seven games in fifteen days, then the last three league games the following week.

Results and performances of late have been a little erratic, with five victories, two draws, three defeats in the last ten matches. Of the five wins only two were in the league, so our league position has fallen away recently from one of being in the top three for most of the season. There are still enough games left to get back up a few places, but of course, we have to play well with more consistency.

Tuesday's Senior Cup Final squad will be from :Tom McNamara,Rob Hamling,Chris Weedon,Tom Castle,Christian Perkins,Danny Leggett ©,Ben Willoughby,Jordan Parker,Jack Quainton,Mark Baker,Jimmy Deabill,Mark Flanagan,Anaclet Odhiambo,Chris Harper,Andy Styles,Nathan Geary,Tom Woodbridge

A Fine Example Of Integrity - 2nd April

Kidlington Secretary Dave Platt was pleased to find that a Ground Hopper's word is a good as his bond.

Kiddy had let in a spectator, who had been the victim of modern day "Highway Robbery", on the basis that the entry fee was sent to them. Not only did Dave find that fairness is repaid, he now knows that the Yarnton Road kitchen would be a contender for a Football Michelin Star in the spectators' eyes!

Came and watched your re-arranged game against Flackwell Heath, Tue 23 Mar.

Unfortunately, a petrol station 'sucked away' most of the money I brought with me on the way down. Please find enclosed P.O. £4 (Admission Fee). The gateman very kindly let me in on the condition I reimbursed the club in the post.

With the £3.8 000 I had on me I bought 2 programmes + . . . . . The Best Value Tray Of Chips & Coffee Anywhere In Football Including League! Period (I would have needed a mortgage to buy it at Wembley)

First Time In A Century - 1st April

Some of you will already be aware that Kidlington Football Club have made it to the final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

This is the first time in their 100 year history they have made all the way to the final and are extremely proud to be participating in the final of such a prestigious competition. They will be playing against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday 12th April 2011, k.o. 7:45pm.

If you need to contact anyone from Kidlington Football Club for further information please call club secretary David Platt, he will be looking after things. His number is 07956 531185 or e-mail david.platt45@googlemail.com

On the Hellenic front Kidlington entertain Binfield this Saturday afternoon in a league match at Yarnton Road, k.o. 3:00pm.

Kidlington didn't have a midweek game so manager Gordon Geary should have a fully fit squad for this match with Binfield. Anaclet Odhiambo and Jimmy Deabill should be available again after missing last week. Kidlington will be looking to put in a better performance this weekend against title chasing Binfield than they did last Saturday against Bracknell. Kidlington were cruising at 2 - 0 last time out, but then succumbed to a three goal barrage in the last half an hour and were subsequently defeated 3 - 2. Ben Weedon will face a late fitness check.

Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Flanagan, Chris Harper, Ryan Curtin, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Jordan Parker, Tom Castle, Lee Bolton, Jamie Anderson

Kiddy Face Berks Robins - 25th March

Premier Division High fliers Kidlington travel to Bracknell Town for a league match this Saturday afternoon, k.o. 3:00pm.

Kidlington have now won both their mid-week matches against Flackwell Heath 1 - 0 and Oxford City Nomads 5 - 0 after last Saturday's disappointing 3 - 1 defeat at Thame United.

Kidlington fully utilised their squad for these two mid-week matches and it paid dividends. The win against Flackwell was hard fought and only decided by a classic bicycle kick goal from Ryan Curtin. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary then made wholesale changes for the game at Nomads, resting nine players(Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Ben Willoughby, Jordan Parker, Mark Flanagan, Mark Baker, Ryan Curtin & Anaclet Odhiambo), however the side that was fielded overwhelmed their opponents and they ran out 5 - 0 winners. The goals were shared around the side with Christian Perkins, Tom Woodbridge, Chris Harper, Jimmy Deabill and Andy Styles all netting. In this Nomads match Kidlington's new signing Chris Harper made a scoring debut, coming on off the bench he netted his goal within a minute of entering the fray.

For the match against Bracknell Kidlington will tread very cautiously. Kiddy won over at Larges Lane early in the season in the Floodlit Cup 2 - 1 with goals from Danny Mason and Mark Flanagan. However since that game Kidlington met Bracknell at Yarnton Road and the Berkshire side shaded this match by the odd goal in five. On that day Kidlington's goals came from Mark Flanagan and Lance Williams.

We all know Larges Lane is a difficult place to go and get a win as several of the top sides have found out. Bracknell have toppled both title chasers Ardley United and Binfield in recent weeks. However that is exactly what Gordon Geary and his team are setting out to do.

Kidlington's Jimmy Deabil will miss this match because of suspension and Ben Weedon will sit this one out with a hamstring problem. Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Danny Leggett, Ben Willoughby, Jordan Parker, Mark Flanagan, Mark Baker, Ryan Curtin & Anaclet Odhiambo all return to the squad.

Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Chris Harper, Ryan

Sup Cup Tonight - 24th March

Tonight Kidlington travel to Court Farm Place to take on local rivals Oxford City Nomads in the 2nd round of the Hellenic Supplementary Cup, k.o. 7:45pm.

Kidlington bounced back on Tuesday evening with a fine 1 - 0 win against a spirited Flackwell Heath side at Yarnton Road. after defeat at Thame at the weekend. Ryan Curtain scored Kidlington's goal against Flackwell with a spectacular overhead kick. Kidlington have played Nomads 3 times already this season, so the teams know each other well. Kidlington are winning this battle 2 - 1 at the moment and Gordon Geary has his sites set on making it 3 - 1.

chris harper kidlington football development hellenic leagueGeary has added several players to his squad for this game after already playing Saturday and then Tuesday this week because he feels there will be fatigue within the squad. However he is boosted by the news that experienced winger Chris Harper 28 (pictured) has signed for Kidlington from Zamaretto League side Abingdon United. Harper is a player that Geary has been tracking for some time. He first tried to sign Harper earlier in the season, but at that time the player was committed to Abingdon. This time though Harper was happy to move to Yarnton Road. Harper has experience at Hellenic level and above and can boast of playing for several of the regions best sides, these include Didcot Town, Brackley Town, Oxford City, Abingdon United and Witney United. Geary said " When I was at Abingdon a few years back Chris was there and I was impressed with him then. He is a quick and creative winger and also scores goals, he will be just what we need at the moment as we approach the final stages of the season. His signing will enlarge our squad and more importantly give competition for places". As well as Harper, Geary has added keeper Rob Hamling, Richard Brooks, Lee Bolton, Tommy Castle, Jamie Anderson and Nathen Geary to the squad.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Jimmy Deabill, Jordan Parker, Tom Castle, Lee Bolton, Nathan Geary, Jamie Anderson, Richard Brooks.

Looking To Bounce Back - 21st March

Kidlington entertain Flackwell Heath in a Premier Division League fixture at Yarnton Road, tomorrow night k.o. 7:45pm.

After a disappointing result at the weekend Kidlington will look to bounce back in game against Flackwell. Kidlington lost ground in the title chase after their 3 - 1 defeat to Thame, as title favourites Ardley took all 3 points with a 1 - 0 win against Abingdon Town. Kidlington also slipped down a place in the table to third wilth Binfield who also won on Saturday replacing them. Kidlington should have Jimmy Deabill and Jordan Parker back in contention after both missed Saturday's defeat. Ben Weedon will still be missing because of injury.

Though Kidlington will need to be at their best to overcome the unpredictable Heathens, who took four points out of a possible six against the League leaders Ardley in the two games played between the club's this year.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Jimmy Deabill, Jordan Parker, Tom Castle, Nathan Geary,Jamie Anderson.

Injury Struck Kiddy - 17th March

After the fantastic mid-week win against Carterton in the semi-final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup Kidlington return to league action in this match against Thame. Kidlington came through the match with Carterton with a 2 - 0 win. Kiddy's goals were scored by Anaclet Odhiambo and Danny Mason. It's a great achievement for the club as although we have been to the semi final stage of the competition a few times before we have never made it all the way. It is hoped that the final tie will be staged at Oxford United's Kassam stadium sometime in late April, but this hasn't been confirmed. In fact Kidlington don't yet know who their opposition will be. The other semi will take place next week between Zamaretto Premier Division Banbury United and Npower Football League Division 2 side Oxford United.

Ahead of the match with Thame Kidlington's injury jinx has struck again. Both Mark Baker and Ben Weedon picked up injuries in the Carterton game and must rate as extremely doubtful. Kidlington also have Jimmy Deabill and Jordan Parker unavailable, but Ryan Curtin who was cup tied will return. Manager Gordon Geary has added Tom Castle, Nathan Geary and Jamie Anderson to the squad.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Tom Castle, Nathan Geary, Jamie Anderson.

OFA Final Hellenic Contenders- 15th March

oxfordshire faTommorow night Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side's Kidlington and Carterton Town meet in the semi-final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup. The match will take place at Banbury United's Spencer Stadium - K.O. 7:45pm.

This is a great opportunity for one of these two Hellenic sides to make it to the final of this prestigious competition. Kidlington have been in the semi before but unfortunately have never made it to the final itself. The last time this happened was back in season 2007-08. In that match Kidlington came up against a very strong North Leigh side and did well to send the match to extra time, however North Leigh eventually won it and then went on to land the trophy for the first time in their history, beating Banbury United 2 - 1 in the final.

Kidlington have had a difficult path to this stage of the competition. In the first round they defeated Hellenic Division One West leaders Headington Amateurs 5 - 2, before seeing off current Hellenic Premier leaders Ardley 3 - 1. Then they had a 2 - 0 home win against Thame United and came through a very tough but entertaining encounter with Oxford City Nomads in the Quarter final. The match against Nomads was settled on penalties after it finished at 2 - 2 aet. During this match Kidlington's Mark Baker scored a spectacular goal which certainly if the Sky TV cameras had been there their commentators would have been salivating over it.

Kidlington didn't have a match last Saturday so will hopefully fit and ready for this one. Manager Gordon Geary reports that he has virtually a full squad to pick from for the 1st time in many weeks. Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan and Christian Perkins have recovered and ready to play. The only player really missing will be recent signing Ryan Curtin who is cup tied.

Geary said "It's fantastic for the club to get to this stage of the competition, this set of players have done fantastically well for the club this season and it would be fitting if they could get to the final, which would be the first time in the clubs 100 year history. We know it won't be easy against Carterton as we played them only a couple of weeks back and only just managed to shade the mach 1 - 0. Carterton are a decent side and certainly don't play like a side in a relegation fight, they are far better than that. It is also apparent that they are starting to pick up as their last two results suggest, as they are now on a run of two successive wins and we all know this breeds confidence within the ranks. I will certainly be warning my players against any sort of complacency and as far as I am concerned it's great to have this match as a distraction to the league. I will be hoping and expecting a good performance as I know we have the players here at Kidlington to do well".

The other semi see's Banbury United play Oxford United, so whomever gets to the final they know they will face a tough task. Kidlington are hoping for a decent following to support the team for this important match.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge

Ressies Take Centre Stage - 11th March

Without a match for the 1st Team this weekend Kidlington Football Club's attention will switch to their Reserve's who are at home this Saturday afternoon against Fairford Town Reserves, k.o. 3:00pm.

Brad chalmers kidlington football development hellenic leagueThe 1st not having a match is probably a good thing as far as Kidlington's injury situation is concerned. Kiddy have been dogged with injuries throughout the season and I don't think Manager Gordon Geary has been able to field the same team twice. An injury to central defender Brad Chalmers (photo) early in the season saw his season finished but he finally underwent knee surgery last week. It appears that the procedure went well so hopefully he will be back for pre-season training in July. Chalmers had had a great start to the season where he played every match up until his injury in early September. His unavailability has been a loss to the side, but now he has had his long awaited op we all hope he makes a good and speedy recovery. Chalmers has proved to be a real club man, although injured he has traveled with the team to virtually every match and therefore been there on the side lines to cheer them on. I know the lads are grateful for this and he is included in all their team activities.

Defender Chris Weedon made his return to action in the 0 - 0 draw against Ardley last Tuesday after being out for several weeks, Mark Flanagan also made his first start after being out for seven matches in the same game. Unfortunately Ben Weedon, Christian Perkins and Jack Johnson haven't seen any action for 3 or 4 matches because of injury, so we are hoping this break will do them good and aid their recovery.

Several other Kiddy players are suffering the rigours of a long hard season, but with the climax to the season now on the horizon I'm sure they will steel themselves ready for it.

Kidlington 1st Team have an Oxfordshire Senior Cup semi-final to look forward to next Wednesday evening against fellow Hellenic side Carterton Town. This match will take place at Banbury United's Spencer Stadium, k.o. 7:30pm. Carterton will be Kiddy's opponents after they gained a reprieve in the last round where they were defeated by Oxford City. The Oxfordshire Football Association found an irregularity in City's paperwork and threw them out of the competition, reinstating Carterton.

Kidlington have played Carterton twice already this season in league games, winning on both occasions. Therefore I expect Kiddy will go into this match with confidence, but I know Geary will be warning them about over confidence and complacency. Kidlington have never made it to the final of this competition before although they have been to the semi-final stage, most recently against North Leigh a couple of seasons back. Kiddy lost this one after extra time whilst North Leigh went on to lift the prestigious trophy for the 1st time in their history. It would be really great for Kidlington to get to the final as the team have done extremely well this season and to claim a place in the final of this competition would be amazing.
Kidlington are still in the hunt for league honors and they will also play Oxford City Nomads at Court Farm Place in the Supplementary Cup 2nd Round in a couple of weeks time, so its still all to play for. We are just hoping that the injury situation doesn't cloud what has been a fantastic season so far.

Top Two Battle It Out - 8th March

Second place Kidlington travel to The Recreation Ground tonight to take on table toppers Ardley, kick off 7:30pm.

On Saturday Kidlington lost their match with fellow title chasers Wantage Town. It was a terrific spectacle for the decent size crowd at Yarnton Road to enjoy, but not the right result for the home side. After taking an early lead Kiddy couldn't find a second goal although they created a hat-full of chances and in the end paid the price as Wantage ran out 2 - 1 winners.

Kidlington are still in second place in the league but other teams around them have games in hand, so this match is looking more than ever like a must win game for the visitors. Kidlington believe the omens are in their favour as they have beaten Ardley twice already this season. In the league and then again in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, both these matches being played at Yarnton Road.

Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary will hopefully have a near full squad to pick from. Kiddy have suffered a lot of injuries lately but will be hoping that a couple more of the inured players will report fit for this one. Both Christian Perkins and Ben Weedon will face late fitness tests after they missed last Saturday's match.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Ryan Curtin, Andy Styles, Jack Johnson, Nathan Geary

Challenging Game Expected - 3rd March

This Saturday afternoon Kidlington's match with Wantage promises to be a great game with both teams in the top four and challenging for the title.

Wantage have won their last three league matches and are in fine form. Kidlington had a slip up at title challenging Slimbridge last Saturday but came back with onhe goal win against Carterton on Tuesday evening.

Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary said. "After last weeks defeat to Slimbridge my lads have got to go out and prove that they are capable of winning these big games again. Wantage are in my book probably favorites for the title because of their games in hand. I really feel that they area a great side and with the prolific scoring Richard Claydon in their ranks will come here looking to turn us over. For our part we must take each match as it comes and certainly realise that a defeat is not the be all or end all of a title challenge. I know we have a good squad here at Kidlington and we will need it if we are to come through the stiff run in to the end of the season. We have had so many injuries lately that it has been difficult, but if we play as well as I know we are capable of I 'm sure we have a decent chance".

Geary is hoping to have a full squad to pick from for the first time in many weeks with Mark Flanagan, Chris Weedon and Danny Mason have now proving their fitness. However Christian Perkins, Ben Weedon, Jack Quainton, and Jack Johnson all picked up injuries against Carterton, all these players will face late fitness tests.

Ryan Curtin after impressing on his full debut will keep his place in the squad with Mark Baker and Christian Perkins who were missing last weekend.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Mark Flanagan, Ryan Curtin, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Styles, Jack Johnson.

Smarting Kiddy Looking For Positive Outcome - 28th February

Kidlington will be looking to get back on the winning trail when they meet Carterton at Yarnton Road tomorrow night, after being thrashed by Slimbridge at the weekend.

Manager Gordon Geary was forced into making wholesale changes to his title challenging side because of injuries and unavailability. The team he fielded certainly didn't gel and they ended up being beaten 6 - 0, which is by some distance their worst result of the campaign.

On the day Kidlington were out thought and out battled on a testing pitch at Wislow Road. Slimbridge played to their strengths and they certainly deserved to win by the margin they secured. This moved Slimbridge into third place behing Kidlington and Ardley on goal difference. Wantage are only a couple of points behind in 4th place and they have games in hand. The Alfredians travel to Kidlington this coming Saturday, so it's still all to play for.

For the match against Carterton Geary will have Mark Baker and Chistian Perkins back for sure. Baker was away on a long weekend in Poland, whilst Perkins was at his sisters wedding. On the injury front Mark Flanagan is still out, but Geary is far more hopeful that Chris Weedon and Danny Mason will be fit.

New signing Ryan Curtin will be available again after coming on as a second half substitute against Slimbridge, but he could make little impression as the game was lost by that time as Kiddy were already 3 - 0 down.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Styles, Tom Castle, Nathan Geary, Jack Johnson, Ryan Curtin.

Kidlington are buoyed ahead of their next match at Slimbridge with news that manager Gordon Geary has signed midfield-attacker Ryan Curtin (pictured) . The player has had spells with Zamaretto League clubs Abingdon United and North Leigh as well as Witney United and Abingdon Town in the Uhlsport Hellenic. Geary said " I am really pleased that Ryan will be joining us he is a very welcome addition to our squad, especially now for the congested run in".

Kidlington have had their last two first team matches postponed because of the wet weather. These matches were supposed to be at home against Ascot United last Saturday and away against Oxford City Nomads in the Supplementary cup on last night. These matches will both have to be re-arranged now.

Kidlington won against third placed Slimbridge earlier in the campaign so on Saturday. Simon Dickens commented. "We're sure they will be looking for revenge. Should Slimbridge win they would go level points with Kidlington in second place, it really is extremely tight at the top of the table."

Kidlington still have injury worries, Mark Flanagan is certainly out of contention with ankle ligament damage while Chris Weedon trained on Wednesday evening, but will face a late fitness test before a decision is made. Manager Geary has added Tom Castle and Nathan Geary to his squad.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Styles, Tom Castle, Nathan Geary, Jack Johnson Ryan Curtin

Nomads Tonight - 23rd February

This evening Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Oxford City Nomads for a 2nd Round Hellenic League Supplementary Cup tie, k.o. 7-45pm.

Kidlington lost their game against Ascot to the weather at the weekend, so they will be looking to get back to action in this match.

These two sides met last Tuesday in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup in a match that proved to be a real thriller. Kidlington finally won on 5 - 4 on penalty's at a rain swept Yarnton Road after it finished 2 - 2 aet.

Kidlington still have injury worries, Mark Flanagan is certainly out of contention with ankle ligament damage while Chris Weedon and Danny Mason face late fitness tests. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary has added Tom Castle and Nathan Geary to his squad.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Styles, Tom Castle, Nathan Geary,Jack Johnson.

Wet Weekend For Kidlington - 22nd February

It was with bitter disappointment that Kidlington had to call their game off against Ascot United this Saturday, reports Simon Dickens. After heavy rain overnight and again during the morning there was no choice. Kidlington were desperate for the match to go ahead with club Secretary Dave Platt working hard on the pitch to get it into as good a nick as he could. Platt had done some sterling work and when he left it on Friday it was in as good a condition as it could possibly be, then the rain came. The Yarnton Road pitch had suffered one hell of a pounding during the 1st Teams penalty shoot out win over Oxford City Nomads in the quarter final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup last Tuesday and this match against Nomads was played in the rain and the pitch was a real mess at the end of it.

With both Slimbridge and Ardley having really tough looking ties, at least on paper, everyone was hoping that Kiddy could get a result and move to the top of the league table again. Although nothing really changed there as both Slimbridge and Ardley's matches also fell victim to the wet weather. Kiddy will have to wait their chance till another day.

Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary along with several supporters and members of the football clubs committee traveled over to Carterton, where the rain hadn't effected the playing surface so badly, to watch their reserve side secure a creditable 2 - 1 win. Tim Wyatt netted both goals for Kiddy's Reserves who also had cetntral defender Simon Grossmann who has recently re-signed for the club in their ranks. Grossmann now a veteran said "I can remember pulling on the Kidlington shirt many times in the 18 or so years I had been associated with the club and it's great to be back".

Hoping To Extend Run - 17th February

Kidlington, now unbeaten in six matches, face Ascot United at Yarnton Road on Saturday.

The midweek OFA Cup game was a very tight match with Oxford City Nomads 5 - 4 on penalties. This was after the teams drew 2 - 2 after extra time in the quarter final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup. During this match Kidlington's Mark Baker scored a contender for goal of the season. I certainly haven't seen a better goal this season and it possibly rates as one of the best strikes I have ever seen. It was a truly great strike form about 25 yards out which went in off the far post. The Nomads keeper Joe White really didn't stand an earthly chance of saving it. Against Binfield one of their lads scored a fantastic goal against us, but Baker's strike was in a different league to this one. You really had to be there to see and appreciate it. It's a shame that the Sky cameras weren't in attendance to capture it as I can just see Richard Key's and the panel salivating over it.

Last Saturday Kidlington also had to work hard for their win against Abingdon United in a league match. Kidlington had to come from behind twice, but when they finally got their noses in front they ran out winners by 4 - 2. Anaclet Odhiambo and Danny Mason both scored twice in this one. Kidlington have injure worries ahead of this weeks match against Ascot. Mark Flanagan is out with ankle ligament damage while Chris Weedon and Danny Mason will face late fitness tests. Kidlington Manager has added Tom Castle to his squad.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Styles, Tom Castle,Jack Johnson.

Kiddy News - 14th February

Tomorrownight Uhlsport Hellenic side Kidlington entertain fellow Premier side Oxford City Nomads in the quarter final of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, k.o. 7:45pm.

Kidlington are still in contention to win some silverware on three fronts. However the opponents on Tuesday stand between Kiddy and progression in two of these, the two cup competitions they are still involved in. After Tuesday's match Kiddy will play The Nomads again next Wednesday at Court Farm Place in the Hellenic Supplementary Cup. The Nomads have had a massive upswing in fortune since Andy Sinnott and Justin Merritt teamed up to take over the rains earlier in the season. They now sit in a comfortable mid table position. Nomads have only won one of their last four matches, but they have been against tough opposition and before this they were flying. Kiddy know only to well that on their day they can beat anyone, this after Kiddy stumbled to defeat at their place at the beginning of the year!

Press Officer Simon Dickens stated. "I expect it is quite a strange situation over at City at the moment as far as this competition is concerned. Their 1st Team was unceremoniously removed from the competition for playing an ineligible player in this same round against Carterton. City won the match but where removed from the competition for player irregularity. I know they were struggling for player's that evening and some of their veterans had to fill in. I understand that several of their squad had played in earlier rounds of the competition for The Nomads, and thus were ineligible. I wonder if these lads will turn out for The Nomads for this match at Yarnton Road. Still, whatever the result we should be in for a good match. Games between our two sides are usually keenly fought affairs and I expect no exception to this evening".

Kiddy's last match at Yarnton Road, which seems an eternity ago now saw them beat pre-season title favourites Shortwood 2—1. Since that match they have had a sequence of four away matches having won 3 and drawn 1. Kiddy have defeated Highworth Town, Old Woodstock Town and Abingdon Town and drawn with the side that appear to be our bogey side this season Shrivenham. These 4 matches were all league games, so to have accrued 10 points from such a tricky run of away fixtures is an excellent return. This has now set Kiddy up nicely for the run in which should see them hopefully contend for the title with Ardley, Wantage and Slimbridge. There are several teams in the chasing pack that could get involved in the melee, but they would basically have to win all their games to get in on the action. Manager Gordon Geary said; "it would be really great to get a result tonight, the players always want to do well in this competition so I will be fielding my strongest side". Kidlington will be without Mark Flanagan who has damaged ankle ligaments, but Christian Perkins and Tom Woodbridge return.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Rob Hamling, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Style,Jack Johnson.

Kiddy Take On Abbots - 10th February

Kidlington, now unbeaten in four matches after a resounding 5 - 0 thrashing of local neighbors Old Woodstock Town on Wednesday evening, travel to Abingdon Town on Saturday.

Kidlington were back to their very best in this match against Woodstock with their goals on the night coming from Jack Quainton, a brace from Jimmy Deabill, one for, fit again, Anaclet Odhiambo and Jordan Parker netting the fifth.

Abingdon will certainly pose a major threat to title chasing Kidlngton. Their many recent signings will testify to an upswing in their recent results. Kidlington know they will be up against several of their 'old boys' including Lance Williams who transferred away from Yarnton Road to join Abingdon over the Christmas period. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary will certainly be again warning his players against any sort of complacency ahead of the match.

Kidlington should have a full squad to pick from, however Mark Flanagan will face a late fitness test after being injured in the win against Woodstock.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Styles,Jack Johnson.

Back After 10 days - 4th February

Kidlington have been without a first team game for 10 days, but are back in action tomorrow at Shrivenham.

Manager Gordon Geary commented: "All the players are 'chomping at the bit' to get out there and play again this weekend." However there will be plenty of caution in the Kiddy ranks, they have come up against Shrivvy twice already this season and on both these occasions the West Oxfordshire side won 2 - 1. These matches were the reverse league fixture and then at Shrivvy in the Floodlit Cup. The lowly position the home side are occupying at the moment can be bolstered by another win against high flying Kiddy and Geary is well aware that they may have the 'Indian Sign' over his side and knows they will be a difficult nut to crack. A win for the visitors though will keep their title chase well and truly on track.

In recent weeks Kidlington have beaten several of the other title contenders Ardley United, Shortwood Town and Highworth Town so confidence within the camp is high. Last time out Kidlington had a great win at Highworth who until that game had won nine straight matches, however a Mark Baker double secured the points for Kiddy. Geary will be warning his players against complacency ahead of the match and his side will be boosted by the return of Skipper Danny Leggett and his fellow defensive partner Danny Mason. Also back will be Striker Anaclet Odhiambo who was injured early in a game at Binfield a month back. Along with these three Geary also adds Tom Woodbridge to the squad.
Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton, Jordan Parker, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Styles,Jack Johnson.

Thoughts Of The D-Man - 28th January

Without a match for Kidlington's first team until next Saturday, "Kiddy Wordsmith" Simon Dickens reflects on how the season so far has panned out for his side.

"Well, the first thing is obvious, we are still in the hunt for major honors that's a fact. We currently sit second in the table and only three points behind current leaders Ardley, with a game in hand. Pretty satisfying I'd say and I'm sure anyone here at Yarnton Road would have bitten your hand off to be in this position at the start of the season.

I do see competition all around us though it's not just Ardley and ourselves. Wantage have got to be in with a great shout. The Alfraidians sit just behind us in the table with games in hand and they have a strong squad. I do feel that they and Ardley have to be our greatest challengers.

Also in the mix must be Slimbridge and Highworth Town. Both are good sides and I'm sure they will pick up plenty more points before the season ends. Others worth considering are the pre-season title favorites Shortwood United, Binfield and of course Old Woodstock Town, though they must be long shots for a title push now as they are so far behind. This season really has seen a close race and therefore I certainly won't rule any of these three out just yet.

Kiddy are also still in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup where we are due to play fellow Uhlsport Hellenic Premier side Oxford City Nomads. This is a the quarter final and the match will take place at Yarnton Road in the middle of next month. Strangely we have also been drawn against the Nomads in the Supplementary Cup as well, again at home and only a week later. We know to our cost that City are a decent side now and ever improving under the Management and Stewardship of Andy Sinnott. They beat us at Court Farm Place back in early January so we know we will have to do better if we are to progress in these cups.

What has been strange for everyone involved with Kiddy is our knack of getting results against the supposedly better sides, then contriving to lose against what could be considered the lesser teams, in no way is this a meant to be a derogatory statement.

We have beaten Ardley, Highworth and Shortwood twice each and have also played Slimbridge at home and beaten them. We have only played Wantage the once and that was at their place and we drew that match. So far then this season we remain unbeaten amongst our peers!

On the flip side we have lost to Shrivenham twice, Bracknell and the Nomads. I really can't make sense at all to these results, save to say that they are always annoying!

Our last four games have seen us face three of the top six sides and Binfield. We have recorded wins against Ardley, Shortwood and Highworth, putting in fine performances on the way. Then against Binfield we suffered our worst defeat of the season, albeit that on the day we had a side that was heavily depleted by injuries, both prior and then during the match. This certainly didn't help, but in saying that Binfield were well worth their win.

This break will certainly give new signing Anaclet Odhiambo, Skipper Danny Leggett and Danny Mason time to rest and get back up to speed after injury. Then hopefully we should have a full squad to pick from.

One thing I certainly believe is Kiddy Manager Gordon Geary and his team have assembled the best squad of players I have ever seen at Yarnton Road. When they are all fit and firing on all cylinders I really consider we should be able to beat anyone at our level.

It would be great to bring some silverware back to the club from what has been a really exciting season. It's all about keeping the players fit and if that happens then you must feel we are in with a real shout, but only time will tell."

Tough One For 'Kiddy' - 20th January

This Saturday Hellenic Premier side Kidlington entertain Shortwood United for league match, k.o. 3:00pm.

Kidlington have experienced the highs and lows of football in their last two outings. They had a magnificent 2 - 1 win against league leaders Ardley United 10 days ago, but then came crashing down to earth with a bump after suffering a heavy defeat away to Binfield last Saturday. Manager Gordon Geary was at a loss to explain exactly how the team could put in two such chalk and cheese performances. "Against Ardley we fought hard to overturn an early one goal deficit, then eventually we could have won by more than the one goal.

I was forced into making one change before the start of the match at Binfield to the side that beat Ardley, so that shouldn't have made that much difference. Then we lost Anaclet Odhiambo in the first few minutes with an ankle injury, so obviously this didn't help. As this game got underway we also made all the early running, but found ourselves one down and then this time we couldn't fight back. Taking nothing away from Binfield, they are a good side, but I expected more from my troops and I will certainly be looking for an improvement tomorrow.
Kidlington will have the influential defensive trio of Danny Mason, Danny Leggett and Chris Weedon back, but will be without Anaclet Odhiambo and Tom Woodbridge. Odhiambo has turned his ankle in the defeat at Binfield and will be out for a couple of weeks whilst Woodbridge has work commitments.

The draw for the Oxfordshire Senior Cup quarter final ties has been made and Kidlington will face Oxford City Nomads at home on a date yet to be fixed.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Jamie Anderson, Jack Johnson.

Cock-A-Hoop - 13th January

Kidlington are still cock-a-hoop after winning their top of the table tussle with Ardley United last Tuesday evening at Yarnton Road, and are looking forward to the weekend trip to Binfield.

After the midweek match Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary said. "I thought we were magnificent tonight and this was an extremely important win for us, if we had have lost we would have been 12 points adrift and that's a lot to make up. We do have the two games on hand and with the gap now narrowed to 6 points it's still all to play for".

The Ardley match was a tight affair. Kidlington came out on top on the night because their finishing was better than their opponents and their overall commitment and will to succeed was evident throughout the whole Kiddy team for the full 90 minutes. This is where you had to doubt Ardley once Kiddy got themselves back into the match by netting the equalizer. "You sensed they were a spent force" comments Kidlington Press Officer Simon Dickens. "In fact the final score could have been more in favour of the home side had Jack Quainton netted a late chance." Kidlington's goal scorers were Mark Flanagan and Mark Baker.

Binfield are having a purple patch of their own at the moment having won all their previous 4 league games and their home record is outstanding. Binfield have played 9 times at home this season and have won them all scoring 35 times and conceding only 8, a very enviable record indeed. They currently lie in 8th place in the table with 38 points from 28 games played. There is a point of note here though, although they have a 100% home record they have not faced any of the 7 sides above them in the table at Hill Farm Lane so this ought to be there 1st real test. Kidlington have won 7 of their last 8 matches, the only reverse being the calamitous result back on bank holiday Monday when they lost 2 - 0 against Oxford City Nomads. Manger Geary should have a full squad to pick from for Saturday as skipper Danny Leggett looks to have recovered from his ankle knock which prevented him participating in the match with Ardley.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Anaclet Odhiambo, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge, Jack Johnson.

Top Two Meet - 10th January

Tomorrow night the top two in the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier, Kidlington and Ardley United, meet at Kidlington's Yarnton Road 7:45pm kick off.

Ardley have had an fantastic start to their season, not too disimilar from Kidlingtons'. Ardley are currently top of the table with 55 points form 23 games, whilst Kiddie are in 2nd place with a tally of 46 points from 21 games played. Kidlington really need to take the points from this match or at least gain a draw as if they don't the gap will become 12 points. Although Kiddie have a couple of games in hand on Ardley it will no longer be the home side's to dictate in any way. Kiddie should go into this game with a slight psychological edge as they managed to beat Ardley at Yarnton Road 3—1 back in November in the 2nd round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

Kiddie may also have been a lot closer to Ardley in the table if they hadn't suffered an away defeat against Oxford City Nomads at the beginning of the year, they came back with a vengeance against Reading Town last Saturday. Beating the Berkshire side 4—1 which gave them a creditable double over Reading for this season. Ardley for their part had a really good home 2—1 win against pre-season title favourites Shortwood United last Saturday. This win avenged an earlier defeat they suffered away at 'The Wood'. Ardley have only suffered one other league defeat this season and that was a surprise 2—0 home defeat to Thame United back in August. The visitors have won their last seven league matches, this run was only penetrated by their defeat to Kidlington in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

Kidlington still don't know who are opponents are going to be in the Quarter Final of this County Competition. The delayed draw is now due to take place until this coming weekend, so everyone should know more after this. Let's all keep our fingers crossed for a plumb home draw for the Greens.

New signing Anaclet Odhiambo keeps his place in the squad, andkeeper Tom McNamara is back in contention after serving his 3 match ban, also added to the squad in Jack Johnson. Skipper Danny Leggett faces a late fitness test.

Kidlington Squad - Rob Hamlin, Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Anaclet Odhiambo, Jack Quainton, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge,Jack Johnson.

Looking Forward To Reading Clash - 7th January

Tomorrow Uhlsport Hellenic Premier side Kidlington are looking forward to entertaining Reading Town at their Yarnton Road ground, k.o. 3:00pm.

Kidlington, with a number of players unavailable, suffered a reverse at the hands of local neighbors Oxford City Nomads last Monday afternoon. The game was a tight affair with Big Jimmy Deabill having a first half strike dubiously ruled out for offside. After the break Kiddy were awarded a penalty after Andy Styles was upended in the box. With regular spot kick taker Danny Leggett needing to leave the field early because of injury midfielder Ben Willoughby took responsibility but his spot kick was saved magnificently by Nomads man of the match Joe White to keep it all square. As the match went on it proved not to be Kiddies day as two very late defensive errors gifted the home side to the points.

Kidlington will have Jordan Parker, Chris Weedon, Danny Mason, Tom Woodbridge and Jack Johnson back for this game. The only major doubt is Skipper Danny Leggett who faces a late fitness test after his injury in the Nomads match.

Kidlington have also report they have signed striker Anaclet Ohiambo who is also with Zamaretto League side Abingdon United. Ohiambo is described as a striker of good pedigree, he has scored goals for sides at both Southern and Hellenic Level and Kiddy Manager Gordon Geary stated, with a broad smile: "I am extremely pleased to have secured his services for the foreseeable future. My thanks go to everyone at Abingdon United for their assistance in the matter".

It has also been confirmed that influential central defender Danny Mason has recovered from his fractured arm and is also in the squad, this was the decisison after Mason successfully came through full training earlier in the week

Kidlington Squad: From - Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge, Jack Johnson, Danny Mason, Anaclet Ohiambo.

Kidlington Looking Forward To Pitch Action -30th December

Uhlsport Hellenic Premier side Kidlington are looking forward to getting back into action after only playing one competitive match in the last 5 weeks when they travel just round the corner to Oxford City Nomads Court Place Farm this coming Monday afternoon for a league match, k.o. 3:00pm.

Kidlington Press Officer Simon Dickens comments. "With all the snow and freezing conditions it has been difficult for all outdoor sports at all levels, but in experience I have never known a situation like this to happen so early in the season. You expect the frosty conditions to take there toll at some point, but not in December. I fear we will again suffer frozen pitches in January and February if the long term forecasts are to be believed and I am sure this will cause mayhem for the Hellenic fixture co-ordinator. The pitch at Court Place Farm is a decent one, council built, with plenty of sand as a base. The melting snow should hopefully not be a problem, so if anywhere around these parts is going to be deemed playable it will be here."

Kidlington go into this match after completing their passage into the 4th round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup in their last match, which was back on Tuesday 14th December, a 2 - 0 home win against fellow Hellenic side Thame United. This win made it 5 wins on the bounce and 7 wins from the last 8 matches. Kidlington will have Jack Quainton back after suspension and Jimmy Deabill after he recovered from a heavy cold. Also returning to the squad will be Tom Woodbridge, whilst Kiddie Manager Gordon Geary has also added recent signing Mark Burton. Central defender Danny Mason however will miss out for one more week on doctors advice as he is recovering from a fractured arm, the one more week will give him that extra time to do the physio work.

Kidlington Squad - Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton, Lance Williams, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Mark Burton, Tom Woodbridge,Jack Johnson.

Kidlington in 'Local Derby' Action- 16th December

This weekend Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington hope to travel the short distance to North Leigh to take on Old Woodstock Town for a league match, k.o. 3:00pm.

It's all about waiting to see what the weather throws up this weekend. The forecasts range from heavy snow to light rain or deep frost, so it will be wait and see what turns up.

The pitch at Eynsham Park is a good one, although they have that much maligned slope, so if anywhere around these parts is going to be deemed playable it will be here.

Kidlington go into this match after completing their passage into the 4th round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup last Tuesday with a 2 - 0 home win over fellow Hellenic side Thame United. This win made it 5 wins on the bounce and 7 wins from the last 8 matches, infact the whole team are buzzing at the moment and can't wait to get another game under their belts.

Kidlington will have Jack Quainton back after suspension, Jimmy Deabill who was unable to take part because he was recovering from a heavy cold and Manager Gordon Geary didn't want to risk him, and Tom Woodbridge also returns. All these lads were unavailable for the match with Thame. There is also some good news on central defender Danny Mason's progress after the broken arm he sustained a while back against Carterton. Danny is progressing really well and had declared his intention to be ready for selection again for the matches over the Christmas & New Year period.

Kidlington Squad - Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton, Lance Williams, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge & Jack Johnson

Cup Match Hopeful - 14th December

Conditions allowing, Kidlington hope to entertain fellow Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Thame United in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup tonight at Yarnton Road.

Kiddy's pitch was unplayable last Saturday, but ihas improved since. Club Secretary Dave Platt said: "We are very hopeful that the match will go ahead tonight. The conditions overnight were OK and it looks like the temperatures are going to rise today so it should be game on".

Kidlington's last competitive action was on Tuesday 23rd of November so it's been a long enforced break. The players have been keeping themselves fit by training indoors, but there is nothing like real competitive action.

Danny Mason, who broke his arm in the match at Carterton, is still out. Though manager Gordon Geary reports that he hopes Mason will be back challenging for a place in the side around Christmas time.

Kidlington Squad - Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Lance Williams, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge,Jack Johnson

Kiddy To The Western Front - 10th December

On Saturday, weather permitting, Kidlington to travel to Hereford to take on fellow Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Pegasus Juniors for a league match, KO 3:00pm.

Owing to the terrible weather conditions Kidlington have not been in action for 3 weeks, much as the same as the rest of the Hellenic fraternity. After seeing the photo of Pegasus's ground on the Hellenic web site we are all hoping that the promised temperature rise will occur in all areas and that we can finally get a game on. We are sure that the Pegasus officials will be doing their upmost to get the surface at Old School Lane clear and ready, but we will just have to wait and see.

Kidlington will be with out Danny Mason who broke his arm in the match at Carterton, a month back but Kiddy Manager Gordon Geary reports that his recovery from the injury is coming along well and hopefully he will be back challenging for a place in the side around Christmas time.

Kidlington Squad - Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Lance Williams, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge, Jack Johnson.

Kidlington Team News - 2nd December

This Saturday Kidlington entertain fellow Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Carterton Town at Yarnton Road for a league match, k.o. 3:00pm.

Kiddy's match last Saturday against Flackwell Heath was postponed as was most of the Hellenic programme. The pitch at Yarnton Road remains covered in snow, but if the promised change in temperature materializes and the surface thaws there should be a decent chance of getting the game on. Last time out Kidlington had a good 7 - 0 win against basement boys Fairford Town, which followed up the 3—1 win against Abingdon Town on the Saturday before. These two results has seen Kidlington further cement a position in the top 3 of the table. In fact we are now only 3 points behind leaders Ardley with a game in hand. Kiddy have already played Carterton in the reverse league fixture at Kilkenny Lane earlier in the season andwon 2 - 0 on a bitterly cold night. Manager Gordon Geary and his team will be looking to repeat this result and have been training in preparation for it.

Kidlington will be without Danny Mason who broke his arm in the match at Carterton, but Geary reports that his recovery from the injury is coming along well and hopefully he will be back challenging for a place in the side around Christmas time.
Kidlington Squad - Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Lance Williams, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge & Jack Johnson.

kidlington football club extension footings" Cold Changing Rooms" - 30th November

Although the cold weather has curtailed all sporting activities on the pitch at Yarnton Road in the past few days work is ongoing with the latest part of the ground improvements.

Kidlington Secretary Dave Platt has been busy leading a team of committee members in the extension work to the club changing room facilities. In the latter part of last week the footings were dug and the concrete poured in prearation for the brick work.

The intention is to have the extension finished by early in the new year, weather permitting, but it's not looking good at present.

Kidlington Team News- 26th November

On Saturday afternoon Kidlington entertain fellow Premier Division side Flackwell Heath at Yarnton Road in a league match, KO: 3:00pm
Kiddy had a good 7 - 0 win against basement boys Fairford Town in mid-week, which followed a 3 - 1 win against Abingdon Town last Saturday. This has result has seen them further cement a position in the top 3 of the table and, in fact, are now only 3 points behind leaders Ardley with a game in hand. The match against Fairford saw the goals spread throughout the side. Jimmy Deabill and Danny Leggett helped themselves to 2 a piece with further goals from Mark Flanagan, Chris Weedon and a late strike from substitute Lance Williams.

We played Flackwell only a few weeks back and were turned over by 3—1 at their place. Gordon and his team will certainly be looking to redress the balance on Saturday and take the 3 points for ourselves to keep our challenge going. Flackwell have had a decent start to the season. They have so far played 18 matches, one fewer than Kiddy. They have won 8, drawn 3 and been defeated 7 times. They have scored 44 and conceded 28. Their leading scorer in all competitions is Danny Jordan who has 19 goals from 24 games played. He looks a top striker and netted one of 'The Heathens' goals against us in their 3—1 win.
The 1st Team don't have a match this midweek their next game will be here against Carterton next Saturday. After that match we will be at home again on the 7th Dec against Thame United in the 3rd round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.
Off the pitch - We have started the eagerly awaited home team changing room extension this week. Secretary Dave Platt is leading operations on the project and will be in charge of all digger duties!
Kidlington Squad - Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Mark Flanagan, Lance Williams, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge & Jack Johnson.

"Gang Warily" - 23rd November

Kidlington take on bottom club Fairford Town at Yarnton Road tonight, but will not be taking anything for granted.

Kidlington had a good 3 - 1 win against Abingdon Town last Saturday when Mark Flanagan, Jack Quainton and Jordan Parker were all on target. Gordon Geary and his management team will now turn their full attention and focus on taking maximum points from this game against Fairford, to maintain home team upward momentum. Fairford come into this match rooted to the foot of the table, without a league win all season. They have only 5 points from 18 games played, resulting in 5 draws and 13 defeats. In amongst the gloom for the Gloucestershire side it is certainly worth noting that one of the draws was against current league leaders Ardley United. They have also taken points off Wootton Bassett and Witney United. Although the bookies would have Kidlington as heavy favourites, we won't be taking anything for granted.

Geary reaffirmed "We certainly take nothing for granted in these type of fixtures, I will be fielding my strongest side. I have already, and will be again, warned my players about complacency. The  last thing we need now is slip up’s like those occurring against Shrivenham and  Bracknell only a couple of weeks back. We are a decent side when we play well, as long as we are 100% focused throughout we shouldn't go far wrong"

Kidlington will have Chris Weedon back after injury and keeper Rob Hamlin is added to the squad.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby,  Jack Quainton, Mark Flanagan, Lance Williams, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge,  Jack Johnson.

Bouyant Kidlington Look Forward To Abbott's Visit - 18th November

With a 3 - 1 win against fellow Hellenic Premier Division high fliers Ardley United in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup this week Kidlington take on Abingdon Town in the League on Saturday.

Preparations for the cup match were hampered by injury's and player unavailability. However Manager Gordon Geary shuffled his pack and the formula certainly worked. A brace of goals from Jordan Parker and a fantastic strike from MOTM Jack Quainton saw Kiddy through to the next round where they will face Thame United.

It looks like there will be many familiar faces at Yarnton Road in the Abingdon to face Kiddy. The Abbott's have included Kiddy old boys Matt Hutton, Liam O'Callaghan, Kieran Davies, Lewis Gabbidon, Lewis Coyle, Danny Warne and Jefferson Harriott in their squad. All these players have worn the Green of Kidlington and know Yarnton Road very well.

Abingdon will be a tough nut to crack, especially after their fine 7 - 0 win over Carterton last Tuesday where Kiddy old boy Lewis Coyle netted a four timer.

As for Kidlington, Mark Baker and Christian Perkins will be back in the squad, but Danny Mason and Brad Chalmers will miss out because of injury.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Christian Perkins, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Flanagan, Lance Williams, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Baker, Jefferson Assumpcao, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge

Top Teams Battle For County Honours - 16th November

Kidlington and Ardley United meet tomorrow night in the 2nd round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup at Yarnton Road, k.o. 7:45pm.

Both these teams are flying in the Uhlsport Hellenic League at the moment with Ardley top and Kidlington in third place with games in hand, so this cup match promises to be a cracker.

Kidlington were back to winning ways last Saturday with a 2 - 0 win against Ascot United in a league match. This win banished the memory of the home 3 - 2 defeat suffered a week previously by league struggles Bracknell Town.

For this Senior Cup tie Kidlington will be depleted by injury and unavailability. Danny Mason and Brad Chalmers will be missing through injury and Mark Baker and Christian Perkins are not available because they are attending the England versus France International match at Wembley.

When the pair booked tickets for the match they were unaware of the fixture and as Kidlington don't normally play their home mid-week matches on Wednesday's they thought it would be ok.

KIdlington Manager Gordon Geary was philosophical about the issue though. He said earlier today " I told the lads the date for the fixture and as far as I understand they got it mixed up and so they aren't available. We have good players in our squad so I have added Jack Johnson and Rob Hamlin to cover this. We also have Jimmy Deabill back after he served his one match suspension against Ascot on Saturday, so hopefully we should be ok".

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Rob Hamlin, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Ben Willoughby, Jack Quainton, Mark Flanagan, Jimmy Deabill, Lance Williams, Jefferson Assumpcao, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge & Jack Johnson.

Kidlington Hoping To Bounce Back At Ascot - 11th November

Kidlington suffered an unexpected defeat at home to lowly Bracknell Town last weekend so will be looking to bounce back at Ascot on Saturday.

Kidlington manager Gordon Geary stated that he was not happy with the performance by his team last week and has told them so. He has demanded a better and more disciplined performance from the whole team ahead of Saturdays match.

However Kiddy will be hampered by player unavailability. Danny Mason damaged his arm against Carterton last week and was substituted at half time during the 2 - 0 win. His injury has subsequently been diagnosed as a broken arm, he is currently in plaster and likely to be out till after Christmas. Brad Chalmers has suffered a set back in his rehabilitation work on his knee problem, now unfortunately appears to be out for the rest of the season. These injuries are coupled with the loss of Lewis Gabbidon, who has gone away to college, and Luke Holden who is taking a break from the game for the foreseeable future. Also missing from the team will be leading scorer Jimmy Deabill who is suspended because of an accumulation of bookings. The only good news for the club is that Ben Weedon should return to the squad after missing the last 2 games through injury.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Mark Flanagan, Mark Baker, Lance Williams, Jefferson Assumpcao, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Tom Woodbridge, Jamie Anderson.

Robins Visit The Kids - 4th November

This Saturday afternoon Kidlington entertain fellow Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Bracknell Town for a league match a Yarnton Road, k.o. 3:00pm

Press Officer Simon Dickens writes:"This is our second meeting with 'The Robins' this season. We traveled to Bracknell's ground at Larges Lane to play them in the Hellenic Floodlit Cup back in early September. It was a decent match and we won a hard fought encounter 2—1. Subsequently we were knocked out of the competition by Shrivenham in the next round."

"This is Bracknell's first visit to KFC after they were relegated into the Hellenic Premier at the end of last season. They finished bottom of the Southern League South Division and Last seasons Champions Almondsbury replaced them. Our visitors have found it hard to adjust to the Hellenic and currently sit perilously close to the relegation places, having taken only 15 points from their first 45 available. They have 4 wins, 3 draws and have suffered 8 defeats. They will be hoping for better fortune as we move into the Christmas period, where they are currently on a run of 5 away matches in 6. Still, if they play as they did against us in the Floodlit Cup then we should be in for a good and entertaining match."

"We have recovered well from the defeats against Highworth (cup) and Flackwell to record two very good wins against Highworth (again) and then Carterton in league matches."

Manager Gordon Geary said "The win against Highworth was particularly satisfying as we didn't give a good account of ourselves in the cup match the week before. Our goals from Bakes and Jimmy came at the right time and the defence played magnificently when put under pressure".

The win at Carterton was a battling performance played out in a strong wind, which made playing flowing football impossible. Last season we may well have lost this match but we are a far better outfit these days.

Danny Mason took a knock on him arm on Tuesday and is doubtful. Ben Weedon and Andy Styles face late fitness checks whilst Jordan Parker and Lance Williams will return.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Mark Flanagan, Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill, Lance Williams, Jefferson Assumpcao, Andy Styles, Jordan Parke, Jamie Anderson.

Kidlington Midweek - 1st November

Tomorrow night Kidlington FC travel up the A40 to take on fellow Premiership side Carterton Town FC for a league match, k.o. 7:45pm.

Kidlington bounced back to winning ways at the weekend with a good 2 - 1 home win against an impressive Highworth Town. In a very entertaining match Kidlington were able to extract swift revenge for the defeat they suffered against the Highworth the week before in the Hellenic Challange Cup.

Kidlington put in a lackluster performance against the Highworthian's in the cup, but it was a different story in the league match. Highworth started the match strongly and justifiably took the lead. However as the game progressed Kiddy took control. They were level at the break after a headed goal from Danny Mason and Jimmy Deabill gave them the lead shortly after the re-start. Kidlington then should have gone on to increase their lead but weren't able too. Highworth pushed for a late equalizer, but Kiddy's defense held firm to secure the 3 points.

This win firmly established Kidlington in the top 6 of the table and they now have games in hand on all the other teams around them.

Tuesday's opponents Carterton are having an indifferent start to their season, but their results of late have been more encouraging. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary won't be taking this fixture lightly. He said earlier this morning " Carterton always give you a good match whenever you play them, I know that on their day they can be as good as anyone and am really surprised that they aren't further up the table than they are. I will be taking as strong a squad as possible to Killkenny Lane and will be looking for my players to put in the same sort of performance as we did at the weekend."

Jordan Parker is back after suspension and is added to the squad. News on the injury front is that Tom Woodbridge will miss this match, but should be ok for the weekend. Long term injury victim Brad Chalmers is making progress and should hopefully be back in contention before Christmas.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Mark Flanagan, Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill, Lance Williams, Jefferson Assumpcao, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker & Jack Johnson.

Out To Correct Losing Streak - 28th October

Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington entertain Highworth Town for a league match at Yarnton Road on Saturday afternoon,3:00pm. Kidlington are on the back of a 2 game loosing streak and will be looking to put this right against Highworth this weekend.

Kiddy lost to Highworth in the Challenge cup last Saturday 3 - 1 aet. Manager Gordon Geary was disappointed with the defeat saying "we put in a very mediocre performance, not one that I am used to seeing from the lads. I can't put my finger on exactly what went wrong but we didn't seem to be on our game at all".

Kiddy also went down in mid-week away to Flackwell. Again this was a 3 - 1 defeat but Geary was far more up beat about this match when he spoke to me. "We we really unlucky here" he said. " We took the lead and then gave away a sloppy goal. We were doing all the attacking and then got caught just before the break when Danny Mason pulled down one of their forwards. He was red carded and they scored from the free kick. The second half was all one way traffic and we really should have at least got a point from the match. Jimmy Deabill, Jack Quainton and Lance Williams all missed Jefferson Assumpcao kidlington football development hellenic leaguedecent opportunities, then in injury time they netted a 3rd goal. I was really gutted, we played superbly with 10 men all the way through the second half and had them firmly on the ropes. But if you don't put the ball in the net when you have the chance then you won't harvest the points and we didn't".

So Kiddy will be looking to get back to winning ways in this league match. Mark Flanagan should return with both himself and Christian Perkins facing fitness tests on Thursday evening.

New signing Jefferson Assumpcao, pictured, who made his debut in the side on Tuesday keeps his place in the squad. Jordan Parker is missing again, this time through suspension.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Mark Flanagan, Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill, Lance Williams, Jefferson Assumpcao, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Jack Johnson

Jordan Parker is not available for selection and Mark Flanagan is injured so Jack Johnson is added to the squad.

Cup Action - 14th October

Premier high flyers Kidlington a break from league action as they travel up the road to take on unbeaten Division One West leaders Headington Amateurs in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup (kick off 2pm)

Kidlington came through their two tricky away league matches last week with flying colours. Wins at both Shortwood and then Wokingham & Emmbrook have seen the side cement 2nd place in the table, and with a game in hand top spot is achievable. For the next couple of matches though Kidlington will be in cup action, so league aspirations will have to be put on hold. Kidlington's league form has been excellent up to now, but cup matches have been less successful. Kiddy are out of the FA Cup and FA Vase plus fell at the first hurdle in the Floodlit Cup. Manager Gordon Geary will be hoping to redress the situation and carry his team's league form into this Senior Cup tie.

Over the years Kidlington have had some great battles with Headington and with them again doing well in their league it is expected that this should be another good match, which has to be finished on the day. Headington are top of Division One West having played 8 matches and winning them all. They are sitting pretty with a goal difference of plus 21. Kiddy Manager Geary said "We always like this competition and I will be looking to take a full squad of players and hopefully progress through to the next round. I know how well Headington have been going this season and I will not be taking the game lightly. They will be tough opposition and as this is a local derby I expect it to be a good match to for the spectators"

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill, Lance Williams, Jordan Parker, Andy Styles, Mark Flanagan & Tom Woodbridge.

Bitton For Kidlington - 1st October

Tomorrow Premier Division side Kidlington host Bitton AFC of the Toolstation Western Football League Premier Division in the 1st round proper of the FA Carlsgerg Vase.

This match has all the makings for being a cracking tie. Both Kidlington and Bitton have made terrific starts to the season in their respective leagues. After winning their match last weekend against table topping Slimbridge 2 – 1 Kiddy will go into this match full of confidence especially as they have now won nine of their last ten matches, in all competitions. Bristol based Bitton beat another Oxfordshire team Thame United 3 - 2 in the last round of the Vase. However another local side Old Woodstock Town knocked them out of the FA Cup a couple of weeks back. Strangely enough it was Woodstock that Kidlington beat 1 - 0 in the last round of the FA Vase. Kidlington had also previously beaten Malmesbury Victoria 5 - 1 in the 1st qualifying round.

Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary said "The players and me are really looking forward to this match. I have the same players available as last weekend and its the first time this season this has happened. After not having a mid-week match the players have had time to recharge their batteries and be ready. We will be looking to progress as it's not just important to the players it's also important financially to the club".

Jimmy Deabill will miss out this weekend as he is still on holiday and Tom Woodbridge is at a wedding. Also out is Brad Chalmers with a knee ligament injury.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Rob Hamling, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Luke Holden, Lance Williams, Jordan Parker, Andy Styles, Mark Flanagan,Lewis Gabbidon.

New Kit Unveiled - 30th September

Uhlsport Hellenic Reserve Division One team Kidlington Reserves paraded in their new fluorescent orange kit before Tuesday nights league match with Ardley United Reserves.

kidlington fc reserves new kit 2010 hellenic league footballThe kit has been sponsored by The Landlord of the' Six Bells' pub in Kidlington, Mr Nick Griffiths (pictured in the back row far right in a black jacket). Nick is also Vice Chairman of Kidlington FC, and also an Ex-Kiddy player. The Kit shouldn't clash with any other in the league and the players are sure to stand out, especially under floodlights.

Onto the match. Kidlington lost out by 2 - 0 against a very strong Ardley side. The match watched by a very good crowd of around 70 people and was a very controversial affair.

Kidlington Reserve Team Manager Barry Hilles said about the game. "It was a disappointing result after winning three games on the bounce, and in my opinion wasn't helped by two poor decisions by the match officials, either side of half time. Sam Fincher scored what looked like a perfectly good goal for us, which was chalked off for offside after 20 minutes. I am sure that this goal should have stood as their was no way Fincher was off-side! Ardley then went on to take the lead with a well taken free kick to go in at the break 1-0 up. Kidlington looked to gain an equaliser and pushed players forward. Sam Fincher was taken down from behind, but the Ref allowed play to continue resulting in Ardley breaking away and netting their second.

A disappointing result, but two positives were the debut of former Didcot Town Reserves player Jefferson Assumpcao, coming on as a second half substitute and Nathan Geary playing the last 15 minutes after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with injury. It wasn't the result we were looking for in the new kit, but lets hope we can put it right when we next wear it".

Talboys Development Head - 28th September

geoff talboys kidlington football development hellenic leagueA couple of weeks back Andy Sinnott vacated the position as head of Development at Kidlington Football Club to become joint manager of Oxford City Nomads. The reason for this was purely down to the fact that Andy wanted to get back involved with the football side of things. Andy left in a very professional manner and both the committee and management wished him all the best in his new roll. With Andy's departure the club have acted fast to fill the vacancy that he left, therefore Kidlington FC are very pleased to announce that ex-chairman Geoff Talboys (pictured) has agreed to take over this position as head of development.

Kidlington aim to work more closely with the two Youth sides within the village, Kidlington Youth and Garden City, along with the parish council and Kidlington Recreational trust. The aim is to improve the standards of football and football facilities within the village on and off the pitch. "It will be a great challenge, but if we all work together it is something that we all feel can be achieved. We want local players to want to play for Kidlington FC rather than taking their skills elsewhere else" said Kidlington Football Club chairman Lloyd Wray.

Top Table Cracker - 23rd September

Kidlington host Slimbridge in what has the potential to be a cracker of a league match at Yarnton Road on Saturday.

Kidlington had a good mid-week win at Wootton Bassett. Goals from Christian Perkins, his first for the club and a brace from Jordan Parker did the trick. Kiddy have now won 8 of their last 9 matches and are brimming with confidence at the moment. Slimbridge had a really good win themselves on the Wednesday when they beat another of the leagues front runners Wantage Town 2 - 0. This match will pit the two sides who currently occupy the 1st and 2nd places in the table, and it certainly does promise to be a super encounter. Kidlington will hope for a good crowd at Yarnton Road to come and cheer 'The Greens' on.

Kidlington are gradually starting to get some of their players, that have missed most of the start of the season back fit again. Strikers Lance Williams and Luke Holden are now up and running and defender Danny Mason has shrugged off a niggly groin strain which had kept him out of the last couple of matches. The dynamic Mark Flanagan is also fit again and rearing to go. However Brad Chalmers is still out with his knee injury. There is better news on this problem though as it is expected he will now not need a surgical procedure. He has been told it is all about rest now and then gradual rehabilitation. Kidlington manager Gordon Geary enthused to me "the lads played really well at Bassett on a very difficult surface. We had to get used to the conditions at Rylands, and when we did, especially in the second half we blew a decent side away.

Saturday's visitors Slimbridge are themselves having a terrific start to their campaign especially after coming up last season and are doing fantastically well. I know we will be in for a tough match and I will have my team ready for it". Geary went on to add that "we are now in the fortunate position of having a couple of players back that have missed most of the season so far. Luke Holden made a goal scoring return to action for our reserves mid-week and Lance Williams is also back in the fold. Danny Mason and Mark Flanagan have recovered from their injuries".

Missing from the weekend action will be, Jimmy Deabill who is on holiday as is new signing Tom Woodbridge. Also out is Brad Chalmers with his knee ligament injury. Kidlington will have Luke Holden, Lance Williams, Danny Mason, Mark Flanagan and Lewis Gabbidon all back in contention.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Luke Holden, Lance Williams, Jordan Parker, Andy Styles, Mark Flanagan, Lewis Gabbidon.

News From 'Kiddy' - 21st September

Tonight Premier Division side Kidlington travel to Wootton Bassett Town for a league match, KO 7:45pm.

Kidlington bounced back to winning ways when they beat Old Woodstock Town 1 - 0 in the FA Vase last Saturday afternoon, after losing to the same opponents on Tuesday of last week. Kidlington had several of their players who missed the league match back in their squad for the cup tie, and this certainly made a major difference to the team's performance. Kiddy probably should have won far more convincingly than they actually did, but in the end a win's a win especially in Cup competitions.

Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary's side have mow managed 7 wins from their last 8 matches so will definitely go into this match with Bassett with their confidence restored. Geary said. "I am really pleased with the way the team responded after the mid-week loss". Adding "The passion and energy within the team was great to see. We will go into this match with Bassett with the same squad as Saturday, however I will need to give a late fitness test to Mark Flanagan who injured his foot during the cup game, but I expect he will be OK".

Kidlington will still be without Danny Mason, Brad Chalmers and Luke Holden because of injuries and Lewis Gabbidon is now away at collage.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill, Jordan Parker, Andy Styles, Tom Woodbridge, Lance Williams

.

Second Chance - 16th September

On Saturday Kidlington entertain Old Woodstock Town for the second time in four days, this time in an FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round fixture at Yarnton Road.

The two sides met at Yarnton Road on Tuesday night in a league match, with Woodstock coming out on top, winning by 2 - 1.

It was a good match, but Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary will be up for extracting revenge. Geary said "I was really disappointed that we missed our chance to go back to the top of the table against Woodstock on Tuesday. It was certainly not our best performance, but with so many missing I had to change it about and it just didn't work. I will certainly be looking to bring some of the players that were missing back into the team and you can expect to see a different Kidlington on Saturday".

Kidlington will have Mark Baker, Chris Weedon, Lance Williams and Tom Woodbridge back in contention and all four players are added to the squad. Luke Holden and Lewis Gabbidon will miss out while Danny Mason will face a late fitness test.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Jack Quainton, Jimmy Deabill, Jordan Parker, Mark Baker, Tom Woodbridge, Andy Styles, Tom Castle, Lance Williams, Jamie Anderson, Jack Johnson

Kiddy To Secure Top Spot? - 13th September

After Friday evening’s 2 - 1 against Witney United Kidlington briefly climbed to the top of the table, before Ascot won their match on Saturday and leap frogged them.

They are now looking to re-gain top place tomorrow night when they entertain Old Woodstock Town in a league match at Yarnton Road.

Kidlington have two games in hand on Ascot and will be looking to take this opportunity to go back to the top. Kidlington have now won six matches on the trot and are in terrific form but Woodstock are currently seven matches unbeaten, so this match promises to be a cracker. The two clubs will also meet again this coming Saturday, this time in the 2nd round qualifying of the FA Vase.

Kiddy Manger Gordon Geary stated. "These matches against our local neighbours, of which Woodstock are the closest, are always tight affairs. I will be stressing the importance of putting in another workmanlike performance to the players, but if we play like we have been we really should have a decent chance".

Geary also reported that Lance Williams who has been out since pre-season should be fit. This will be a big bonus as Kidlington will be without, Luke Holden and Brad Chalmers because of injury, Mark Baker (holiday) & possibly Lewis Gabbidon because of university. Also there will be late fitness tests for Mark Flanagan and Chris Weedon after both suffered knocks in the Witney match. Woodstock have had a decent start to this season and in the FA Cup last Saturday they had a good 3 - 2 win away from home against Toolstation Western League high fliers Bitton AFC. With the potential loss of several players Geary has brought Andy Styles, Tom Castle & Jamie Anderson into the squad along with Lance Williams.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon
, Jack Quainton, Jimmy Deabill, Jordan Parker, Andy Styles, Tom Castle, Lance Williams, Jamie Anderson, Jack Johnson

Friday Night Derby - 9th September

Tomorrow night Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side Kidlington travel to take on Oxfordshire rival Witney United at Marriots Stadium.

Kidlington will be glad to get back to League action after being involved in Cup matches in their last two games, where Kidlington's good run continued. Winning 2 - 1 at fellow Hellenic Premier side Bracknell Town in the A & M Print & Copy Hellenic Floodlit Cup on Tuesday evening and against Malmesbury Victoria 5 - 0 in the FA Vase at Yarnton Road last Saturday. Five wins on the trot and Kidlington will certainly be looking to make it six in Fridays's local derby.

Press Officer Simon Dickens commented. "Games with Witney are usually very tight affairs and although 'The Blankemen' haven't had the sort of start to their season that I am sure they would have liked, I don't expect this one to be any different".

Manager Gordon Geary said. "I am really pleased with the current situation here at Kidlington. This is a nice run we are on and we will be going all out to extend it against Witney". Geary added. "We have no new injury concerns, howver new signing Tom Woodbridge is unavailable because of holiday. On the plus side Jordan Parker who was missing for the Bracknell match will come back into the squad."

Lance Williams and Luke Holden are recovering from injuries and will hopefully be available again before the end of the month. However added to the injury list is central defender Brad Chalmers who has injured his knee and could well be out of contention until the start of next year.

Kidlington Squad: Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill, Jordan Parke, Jack Johnson.

Freak Injury - 8th September

brad chalmers hellenic league football kidlingtonA freak injury to Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side's central defender Brad Chalmers saw him attend last night's match away win at Bracknell Town on crutches.

Brad was working in his usual shift when he turned and felt pain emanating from his knee. He immediately knew something wasn't right and he'd need to seek some medical advice. He's seen his GP and has been given crutches At the current time there is no clear diagnosis, but he can't bend his knee at all.

Brad will wait and see how it goes over the next few day's, but it looks like he will be out of action for the foreseeable future. This is bad news for Kidlington as Brad had been performing well at both ends of the pitch and has certainly been a prime mover in Kidlington's fine start to the season. Brad has already pitched in with a couple of goals, one of which proved to be the winner against Wokingham & Embrook in the first match of the season. Manager Gordon Geary will want him fit and back in the squad as soon as possible. Kidlington have a local derby against Witney United this Friday evening and Brad will not be in contention

Floodlit Premier Division Meet - 7th September

Tonight Kidlington travel to Bracknell Town for an all Premier Division first round tie of the AM Print & Copy Hellenic Floodlit Cup.

Kidlington are on a fine run at the moment and sit only one point behind current league leaders Ascot with a game in hand. They brushed aside Malmesbury Vic's last Saturday 5 - 1 in the FA Vase and are looking to take this form into tonight's match with Bracknell.

In the match on Saturday Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary Introduced a new signing, Tom Woodridge who was with Hayes and Yeading last season. Woodridge is a forward or wide player and after moving to the area was quickly signed up by the Yarnton Road outfit. Woodridge came on as a 2nd half substitute against the Vic's, gave a good account of himself and scored a goal. After watching this Geary said "Tom looks another very good acquisition for the club and I am very pleased to have him here"

Kidlington won the Floodlit Trophy a couple of season's back and will be certainly anxious to come away from Larges Lane with another victory after having put in another good performance. Geary said about tonight's match 'Things are going well and we seem to playing with confidence, I personally don't know much about Bracknell, but they will come into this one after a resounding 3 - 0 win over Wooton Bassett last Saturday. I am sure that they will want to also progress in this competition and it should be a good match. Kidlington will be without Jordan Parker and Brad Chalmers, but Danny Leggett and Jack Johnson will come back into the squad. On the injury front, both Lance Williams (hamstring) and Luke Holden (ankle & groin) are on the mend and will hopfully be available again in 2 or 3 weeks time."

In the mean time some good news was that Mark Baker made a scoring return in the Vase match with Malmesbury on Saturday after an injury which had kept him out of action for a month.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Jack Quainton, Mark Baker, Jimmy Deabill, Tom Woodridge, Jack Johnson.

Bank Holiday At Home For Kiddy - 26th August

Kidlington host Pegasus Juniors at Yarnton Road on Saturday, then Bank Holiday Monday they will be at home again, this time against Oxford City Nomads.

Kidlington have taken 7 points from a possible 12 at the start of this campaign and this could have been so much better, but for an uncharacteristically poor performance against Shrivenham last Saturday which saw them go down 2 - 1.

However this defeat was swept away and forgotten after a brilliant mid-week victory over Reading Town. Kidlington were on fire at Scours Lane and deservedly took all 3 points from their match with previously unbeaten Reading where they ran out 4 - 2 winners. On the score sheet were Danny Mason, Jimmy Deabill, Mark Flanagan & Brad Chalmers, the goals were all headers. Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary had told his troops to get behind their opponents and get balls into the box. They obviously listened as they did this and it paid dividends, as these goals testify. On the night Geary gave a full debut to central defender Christian Perkins, and he had an outstanding evening.

Some good news for Kidlington is that Mark Baker has started light training again this week, but Lance Williams is still out with a nasty hamstring injury. Williams is due to have a scan on his leg, Kidlington should then be able to assess the full extent of the damage when this has been done.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Brad Chalmers, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Jordan Parker, Jack Quainton, Andy Styles, Luke Holden, Jimmy Deabill, Sam Fincher.

Looking For Continued League Form - 19th August

Kidlington have taken 4 points from a possible 6 at the start of this campaign, and will be looking to increase that tally when Shrivenham visit Yarnton Road on Saturday.

A good point earned at Wantage Town on Tuesday evening brushed away any memories of a heartbreaking exit from the Eon sponsored FA Cup last Saturday at Newport IOW. Kidlington should now look to build on the sound foundation they have created against fellow Oxfordshire side Shrivenham in this one. In the mid-week match with Wantage, both Danny Mason and Ben Weedon made their debuts, and they will certainly keep their places in the squad for this one. When the two clubs met last season both matches were pretty even, Kidlington won their home match 2 - 1, but the fixture at Shrivenham ended in a 0 - 0 stalemate.

Kidlington will still be without injured duo Mark Baker and Lance Williams. Also unavailable is Jordan Parker who is away this weekend. Christian Perkins and Lee Bolton are added to the squad.

Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Brad Chalmers, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Lee Bolton, Jack Quainton, Lewis Coyle, Andy Styles, Jack Johnson, Luke Holden, Jimmy Deabill.

After The Cup - 16th August

Kidlington travel to Wantage Town tommorow night after both teams bowed out of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Kidlington will be desperate to return to winning ways in this one. Kidlington's cup match looked to be going to a replay, even with Kiddy reduced to 10 men, Lance Williams having to go off after Kidlington had used all their substitutes. However a late goal from Newport IOW was enough to send the home side through.

After starting this seasons campaign with a decent win at home to Wokingham & Emmbrook last Tuesday manager Gorden Geary will be stressing the importance of trying to make it two league wins in succession. Geary commented: " We played pretty well against Newport and really should have put the game to bed in the first half. However we didn't take our chances and as they say if you don't you usually live to regret it, and we did!"

For this match at Wantage Ben Weedon is back in contention after suspension and Danny Mason could play a part after returning to the club from Ardley United. Kidlington will be without injured duo Mark Baker and Lance Williams

.Kidlington Squad - Tom McNamara, Chris Weedon, Ben Weedon, Mark Flanagan Danny Leggett, Danny Mason, Brad Chalmers, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Lee Bolton, Jack Quainton, Lewis Coyle, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Jack Johnson, Luke Holden, Jimmy Deabill.

Kiddy International! - 13th August

Kidlington head into "uncharted waters" tomorrow when travel "overseas" to face Newport Isle of Wight in the Extra Preliminary round of the FA Cup.

They will be setting off from their Yarnton Road ground at 8.50 am for their trip to the south coast. The team and their followers will then have to board a ferry and then be bussed to Newport's St. George's Park ground for the match.

The side should travel with confidence after taking all 3 points from their opening league fixture against Hellenic new boys Wokingham and Emmbrook. Brad Chalmers and Luke Holden were on target in their 2 - 1 win.

For the FA Cup, Gordon Geary has virtually a full squad to pick from. However Ben Weedon and Mark Baker are still serving carry over suspensions, from last season. Lee Bolton, Danny Mason and Sam Fincher are unavailable because of work commitments.

Good news for Kidlington is that striker Jimmy Deabill and, close season signing Lance Williams, are fit after both played in a friendly match last night.

Geary said about tomorrows opponents: "I really know little about Newport except they play at the same level as our selves, but in the Wessex League. They were in the Southern League a couple of seasons back. I am under no illusions about this match and know that this we be a tough task for us. With the players I have missing at the moment I am really glad that Jimmy and Lance came through the match on Thursday. This gives us the much needed competition for places in all areas. I know we must be strong in all areas if we are to progress further in this competition and will pick my side accordingly".

Kidlington Squad From: Tom McNamara, Rob Hamling, Chris Weedon, Mark Flanagan, Ben Willoughby, Daniel Leggett, Brad Chalmers, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Jack Quaintion, Jordan Parker, Andy Styles, Jack Johnson, Lewis Coyle, Luke Holden, Jimmy Deabill, Lance Williams.

Early Season News - 5th August

Uhlsport Hellenic Premier side Kidlington start their 2010-2011 campaign with a home league match next Tuesday evening (10th) against Wokingham & Emmbrook, kick off 7-45 at Yarnton Lane followed by an FA Cup Tie away to Newport Isle of Wight on Saturday 14th.

Kidlington Manager Gordon Geary has been extremely active in the close season in preparation for the commencement of the Hellenic Premier program. After signing virtually all of last season’s squad, Geary has added plenty of strength in all departments throughout the team. He has signed ex Oxford United defender Ben Weedon from Abingdon United, along with other defensive players Christian Perkins and Emmett McGovern from Abingdon Town. In Mid-field Lewis Gabbidon has come in from Old Woodstock Town, Tom Hayday from Oxford City Nomads and Andy Styles from Witney United. Up front Lance Williams has joined also coming in from Abingdon Town.

Kidlington's pre-season campaign has gone extremely well. Kidlington have played against Southern League opposition on 3 occasions and each time ended up as winners. They took the scalps of Woodford United, North Leigh and Abingdon United and also had an excellent 2 - 0 victory against the illustrious Aylesbury United.

For their first league match Kidlington will have a large squad to pick from. Gordon Geary said: " Our pre-season has gone very well and I have been able to have a look and assess all our playing staff, both old and new. I truly feel we have now have a well balanced squad." He went on to add "After our great first half to last season we fell away a little after Christmas. Perhaps after suffering injuries to key players we didn't have the strength in depth, so I have added to every department. There is also a possibility that there could be a couple more to come in as well, but we will just have to wait and see what transpires. Obviously if I see someone that can do a job for us and they are available I won't hesitate to take them on board".

Geary's stated ambition is certainly too greatly improve on last year were the club finished in 11th place, and this after occupying a top 6 position for most of the season. With the additions which he has made it would only seem foolhardy to disagree with him. For the 1st two matches of the season Kidlington will definitely be without Mark Baker and Ben Weedon as both these players serve suspensions carried over from last season.

Kidlington Squad Tom McNamara, Rob Hamling, Chris Weedon Mark Flanagan Danny Leggett, Brad Chalmers, Emmett McGovern, Tom Castle, Ben Willoughby, Christian Perkins, Lewis Gabbidon, Lee Bolton, Jack Quainton,Lewis Coyle, Tom Hayday, Andy Styles, Jordan Parker, Jack Johnson, Luke Holden, Jimmy Deabill, Lance Williams, Sam Fincher.

Both these matches give Kidlington a chance to test their players, new and old, against higher league opposition. Everyone at the club is looking forward to what promise to be good entertaining matches.
