CIRENCESTER UNITED NEWS
Hope For Ciren - 10th April

After a winless run of 21 games, two victories in their last three have given Cirencester United hope of avoiding bottom spot again this season.

Ciren are level on points with Pewsey Vale and only trail their Wiltshire rivals on goal difference.

The 2-1 win at Trowbridge Town on Tuesday night means that Ciren will go into tomorrow's home clash with Lydney Town full of confidence, as they bid to pick up points by avenging a 2-1 defeat to Town in August.

Points From Radcot Road? - 20th March

Division One West basement club Cirencester United picked up one of only six points they have collected this season with a 1-1 draw against Clanfield in November.

Since that day United have taken one point out of a possible 30, conceding 57 goals in their nine defeats, but a win in tomorrow's return fixture with Clanfield at Radcot Road could see them move level on points with Pewsey Vale in the drop zone.

End Run? - 27th February

Cirencester United will aim to end Oxford City Nomads' unbeaten record when they go to Marsh Lane.

Ciren lost a thriller 7-4 at home against Nomads on the opening day of this season, four days before picking up their one and only win of the season so far against Cheltenham Saracens.

Their current losing run now stands at seven games but last week's 3-0 defeat to Wootton Basset Town was they had conceded less than six goals in a league match since mid-November.

Nomads, who are up to fourth after a six-game unbeaten run were 2-1 winners at Lydney Town last weekend.

Another Day Another Chance - 27th December

If plucky Cirencester United's goals against sequence continues they could be shipping double figures at Malmesbury Victoria today in FTL Futbol Hellenic League Division One West.

After conceding seven, eight and then nine in their last three games, rock bottom Ciren will go the Flying Monk Ground still prepared to battle and looking to cause an upset.

While they have conceded 24 goals, Malmesbury's last three games have featured 20 with two wins and one defeat for the Wiltshire club.

The Vics, who won 5-1 at Cirencester in August, are fifth in the table following a vast improvement on last season's form when they finished alongside Ciren in the bottom three, albeit with 29 more points.

Points Build - 28th November

Division One West Cirencester will be hoping to build on last week's surprise point when they visit second placed Letcombe.

They nearly pulled off a shock in their previous meeting with the Brooksiders last month but eventually slipped to a 3-2 defeat.

Letcombe, who finished third in the table last season, collected their sixth successive league win with a 2-1 victory at Tytherington Rocks last week. They are the top scorers in One West with 45 goals in 13 games and star striker Richard Claydon has 22 of those, including eight in his last six.

Ciren, who are without a win in 10, are hoping to move off bottom spot and improve on last season's finish in the basement.

Ciren's Woe - 21st November

One win in 11 games has left Cirencester United rooted to the bottom of FTL Futbol Hellenic Divison One West ahead of their home match with mid-table Clanfield tomorrow.

They have now lost their seven on the trot, conceding 27 goals in the process following last week's 5-0 defeat to top dogs Hardwicke.

Opponents Clanfield went out of the FA Vase last week, defeated 2-0 in the second round by Chalfont St Peter of the Spartans South Midlands League.

Astonishing But True - 5th September

With on five games of the season played FTL Futbol Hellenic One West, Cirencester Town could move level on points with their whole tally for last season with a win against Tytherington Rocks tomorrow.

One win and one draw in their opening five games has put Chokri Kartit's side three points short of the seven they got after losing 31 out of 34 games and finishing rock botton of Division One West in 2007-08.

Cirencester have only finished in the top half of a table once in their 21 seasons since formation as 'The Herd' in 1987. Tytherington, who have a 100 per cent away record this season, have chalked up nine consecutive top half finishes either in Hellenic One West or their previous league The Gloucester County League.
