Seacole Moves From Carterton to Nomads - 9 November
Carterton FC report that George Seacole has completed his move to Hellenic Premier Side Oxford City Nomads. After much interest and a number of approaches from local clubs, George eventually decided that Oxford City provided the best opportunity for him to play football at the highest level.
Manager of Carterton, Martin Wilkinson commented: “Whilst it is always disappointing to lose one of your very best players, I am fully supportive of George’s desire to play at a higher level. George is a young and very talented footballer who now has a terrific opportunity to maximise his playing potential at a higher level and everyone at Carterton FC wishes him all the very best for the future. George will remain an ambassador for Carterton FC and will always be made welcome when he visits Kilkenny Lane. I also know Justin Merritt personally and I have no doubts that Justin and Oxford City will provide the very best support towards George’s future football development."
Though it is not a requirement for discussions to take place between clubs in respect of non-contract players, over and above making an official 7 day approach, and following the restrictions applicable to that, Wilkinson feels that this could be handled in a different manner. He expessed his feelings. "I was disappointed that none of the club’s who declared their interest in George chose to speak to me direct before making their official approaches and I would have preferred some discussion to have taken place. I also accept that prior discussions between clubs aren’t mandated by the FA’s current ruling. However, I am experienced enough to know that not all club’s act in the best interests of the players concerned or follow correct procedure and when I am notified of interest in Carterton FC players, I will always endeavour to offer the very best support I can to that player.”
Wilkinson added: “This season is a huge challenge for Carterton FC and it has been necessary to rebuild a completely new squad. When you lose any player to another club it makes the managerial job more difficult. None the less, everyone at Carterton FC is working hard to try and turn our fortunes around on the pitch and I continue to monitor the younger players coming through our own development system. I remain confident that Carterton FC can regain its Hellenic premiership status in the future and provided Carterton FC continues to support and develop our new and existing players, we will be fine.”
