Back To Back Champions - 1 May

chalvey sports uhlsport hellenic league division 2 est champions 17/18 seasonChalvey Sports retained the Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 2 East title last night after a 2-0 away win against Chinnor Reserves.

This was an all or nothing match for The Stabmonks in the last league fixture of the season and even though technically one point was enough, its not healthy to play for a draw. With that in mind Chalvey had to go for the win against newly crowned Oxfordshire County Cup winners Chinnor Reserves.

Chalvey were extremely nervous in the first half and our hosts were the better side. Chinnor hit the upright from a free kick on about 25 minutes and Chalvey keeper Kieron Hudson made a great save from a long range effort that was heading for the top corner.

Harry Messit scored 2 minutes into the second half and top scorer Bryan Taylor scored on 72 minutes to give some much needed breathing space.

Chalvey manager Merv Lloyd commented "We were nervous tonight with such a lot riding on one match. It was all or nothing really, a lot of hard work has gone on this season and to have that all paid back by winning the league for the second consecutive season makes it all worth while. We will take promotion to step 6 and division one football for next season as we are ready for it now. The facilities we use at Arbour Park in Slough gives us the base to take the step up and its something to look forward to. Now we plan for next season, but for the moment its time to sit back and reflect on what has been another excellent season."

Good Friday Final - 29 March

Chalvey Sports start this Easter weekend with an appearance in the Slough Town Senior Cup final tomorrow morning whcih is being played at Burnham with a 10.30am kick off.

Division Two East Chalvey will face old rivals from the East Berkshire Football League and current premier division champions Langleys FC in what promises to be an extremely competitive match.

Both sides are having similar seasons, with both looking to retain league titles won last season & both with quarter final appearances in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy as well. Recent matches between the clubs have been competitive affairs with an equal number of wins for both sides over the last few years. Langley won the last meeting betwen the two clubs, last season in the same competition at the semi final stage with a 1-0 victory.

The Slough Town Cup final has been running since 1924 with both senior and junior sections. Local clubs generally from Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead & Bracknell enter the competition. Most clubs that enter the competition compete in the East Berks League, Thames Valley league and also from the Hellenic league. Its a very well attended match that can attract very large crowds, which is something that will be expected for tomorows game.

Chalvey's recent Slough Town cup final history were defeats to Eton Wick during season 1999/00 AET, & another defeat on penalties during 2005/06. Our only triumph in this competition came way back during season 1955/56 & if Chalvey are to triumph tomorrow the squad will need to play at its very best.

Busy week for The Stabmonks - 8 December

Games are coming thick and fast for Chalvey Sports at the moment after their recent move to Slough Town's Arbour Park.

With floodlights now being available, the club are now getting ready to host their first midweek Hellenic League fixtures, which start next Tuesday with a visit form top of the table Thame Rangers Reserves.

Club Secretary Steve Quelch said 'It's great to be able to play midweek matches in such a great facility. Midweek matches create a buzz when played under lights and its something that we as a club are looking forward to on a more regular basis. Apart from the Thame match next Tuesday, we are looking forward to welcoming local Premier Division opposition Windsor in the new year in the Bluefin Sport Challenge Cup, hosting such matches is one of the reasons as to why we made the move to the Uhlsport Hellenic league last season'

This Saturday Chalvey play Frontline from the East Berks League in the Slough Town Senior Cup before embarking on a very difficult run of league fixtures up to the Christmas Break. With a match at home against Thame and then away fixtures against Virginia Waters Reserves & Penn & Tylers Reserves will see a real test on the strength of the squad.

Exciting Times For The Stabmonks - 27 October

arbour park slough chalvey sportsUhlsport Hellenic League Division 2 East champions Chalvey Sports have signed an agreement with Slough Borough Council to play their home fixtures at Arbour Park, ground sharing with Southern League Slough Town.

Chalvey will play their home matches on alternate Saturday's to Evostik Southern League side Slough Town. The arrangement provides Chalvey with the potential to host home matches under lights in midweek. Along with the potential of promotion should they finish the season in a similar position to last year.

Chalvey secretary Steve Quelch says. "It's and exciting time for us as a club and it will allow us to grow with the potential to be able to climb the football ladder. After winning Division 2 East last season it was disappointing not to be able to take promotion due to Chalvey Recreation ground not meeting the standard. This agreement will allow us to move up if we are in a position to do so in the future. "

Club Chairman Scott Young commented. "This move will enable unto be involved with the community of Slough, and as things move on we will endeavour to give something back".

Chalvey's first match in their new home will see Chinnor Reserves visit Arbour Park for a league fixture tomorrow which kicks off at 3pm.
