Making Most Of Two Weeks Off - 14th March

The squad has been strengthened with additions in late February and the signing of Scott Dewar from Wantage Town. Also having had a recent meeting with manager Bobby Wilkinson the club can now start planning for next season with meetings with interested parties to discuss the bright future of Milton United FC."

All the top teams still have to play each other and points will be dropped. I have said before that there are no easy games in this league and recent results have shown this. All we can do is concentrate on our own game starting this Saturday against Chinnor. we did not play well when we went there so I am looking for an improved performance. We played well last week against a very good Eton side but that match is now gone and we must move onto the next."

We finished 2009 very badly and we must start the New Year in the right frame of mind if we want to have any chance of being in the mix at the end of the season. The only good thing about the postponements, is that a few players who have had knocks are now fully recovered and we should have a full squad available for this match”.

Though the Miltonians will be without front man Antony Alleyne who is serving a one match suspension.

A pitch inspection at ‘the Heights’ on Friday afternoon saw a pitch that was very much frost bound and play on Saturday at ‘the Heights’, as with many grounds will be subject to Saturday AM inspections.

We have four very tough away games between now and the end of the year and if we want to be in the mix for the second half of the season the players cannot afford to drop too many points from these matches".

Tough Time - 14th November

They are in good form at the moment, but then so are we, apart from the defeat on Monday against a premier side where again we were not embarressed playing a higher league club.

We do have a few injuries at the moment but so do other clubs, it should be a really good game but we are hopeful that we can keep our run of form going."

Miracles do happen - Even in Vet's Football!!!! - 11th June

Milton Veterans medals were the first to be presented at the FTL Futbol Hellenic League Presentation Evening which was held at the Oxford Centre on Friday 5 June.

Sharon Palmer and the wonderful Buffalo were present to collect them. The team had come runners up in the Veterans League Division 1. In only their second season, Milton United Vets won 5 of their 8 league games scoring an excellent 20 goals, which was a great improvement from the previous season when we couldn’t score for toffee. To be honest I agree with Howard Wilkinson when he said 'If they hadn't scored, we would've won'

Team manager, Paul McIntosh (pictured left) said "I told the players at the beginning of the season we had a chance to make history if we all lay off the beer, fags, women, late nights, bingo, gambling, stay out of lap dancing clubs and all other the 1980’s footballing clichés. And as the great Terry Venables said if you can't stand the heat in the dressing- room, get out of the kitchen."

"Well now it’s time to look forward to the new season. A couple of players are now old enough to pick up their bus passes, which will probably be the only passes they receive from Robbo as most of his go out for throw in’s! "

McIntosh also said, on a serious note for a change "I would like to say a huge thank you to a few special people. Buff for looking after us at home games on a Wednesday evening (except the one we didn’t turn up to!), those sausages and chips are divine and Marina for managing the bar so well. For Sharon Palmer for making sure I had all the latest fixture info and for keeping me in line." "The biggest thank you is to all the VETS players for making the season so much fun and so enjoyable...let’s hope we have a cracker next year...it’s been emotional".
