Weekend Away for Pegasus! - 28th August

Pegasus Juniors face a tough Bank Holiday weekend as one of three clubs that have been handed two games away from the headquarters in the Premier Division of the Uhlsport Hellenic Football League.

Today they travel to Yarnton Road, Kidlington followed by a trip to Cinder Lane, Fairford. Manager Steve Griffiths expects to have available all the players available that produced a much improved performance in midweek against surprise league leaders Slimbridge at Old School Lane, Hereford.

'Redmen' Gunning For St John - 13th August

Tomorrow Pegasus Juniors renew their acquaintance with the FA Cup sponsored by E.ON with an extra preliminary round match when they entertain Heather St. John's Football Club (pronounced Heether) at Old School Lane, Hereford. This will be the first meeting between the clubs as the Leicestershire club play in the Premier Division of the imoSports Midland Football Combination.

The Uhlsport Hellenic Premier Division side are in the process rebuilding as several players involved in last seasons historic successful FA Cup run have moved on to pastures new chasing the dollar. It is anticipated a number of new faces will be making their FA Cup debuts. It would appear “The Saints” are likely to provide formidably opposition as last season they finished the season in the runners up position with a goal difference of seventy seven (77). The Saints are already top of their league following a 6-1 drubbing of Pelsall Villa with new signing Matt Brown grabbing two goals and Danny Quinn scoring a hat trick inside four minutes in the second half.

Should the game end as a draw the replay will be on Tuesday night (17th) at St. John's Park, Ravenstone Rd, Heather.

To strengthen Peggy's chances, manager Steve Griffiths has fought off stiff competition for the signature of former Ledbury Town player Dorian Colling who scored forty one goals last season and was left without a club after Ledbury Town Football Club quit the West Midlands League on the eve of the new season. The 23 year old striker who has previously played for Tuffley Rovers and Finlay Rovers has been a target for Griffiths for some time. “Dorian impressed when he played against us last season, when I heard of the problems at Ledbury I started to track him down.” Griffiths went on “I’m sure he will be a great asset to the side and will increase the competition for places.”

The Gloucester based player was one of the stars when Ledbury surprisingly beat Westfields FC 3 - 0 in the HFA Challenge Cup final on Easter Monday at Edgar Street. Colling joins three other former Ledbury Town players Pete Boyle, Adam McTear and Scott Roberts. Midfield player Roberts was awarded Managers Player award for last season by former manager Ben Symons. The lively striker has been added to the squad for the FA Cup fixture.
