Charity Is The Winner - 26 March
The Veteran's tournament under the Uhlsport Hellenic Banner played at Thame United's ground on Sunday 25th March was a resounding success.
There are a few donations still due to be forwarded to organiser John Daly but the total sum should be in the region of £2000 for this season's charity 'The British Heart Foundation.
Scores on the day from the 'round robin tournament', and apologies I dont have the Uhlsport Hellenic League scorers names?
England 1 Wales B 0 Wales A 5 UHL West 1
England 2 UHL East 0 Wales B 1 UHL West 0
Wales A 5 Wales B 0 UHL East 1 UHL West 0
England 2 UHL West 0 Wales A 2 UHL East 0
Wales B 0 UHL East 0
Final - England 0 Wales A 0 - a penalty shoot-out was declined, so Wales retained the Charity trophy they won against Uhlsport Hellenic teams in 2011!
To all those that offered help on the day, many thanks. There were a couple of let-downs on the day but the focus was on the Charity outcome which was a resounding success.
John Daly has taken administrative responsibility for organising the Veteran's Charity Day for many season's and is happy to delegate matters going forward. He is also open to ideas and input for Veteran's Competitions starting at the next event on Wednesday 2 May when the annual East v West & Droitwich teams meet in the annual round-robin at Chipping Norton Swifts FC.
Finally, England have agreed to host Over 50's and Over 55's games at a venue TBA in October, and are also looking for Over 60's players for their forthcoming international with Wales - let John Daly know if you'd like to be considered in what is believed to be the very first Over 60's home international match?
