29th November

SBJ Challenge Cup

In this all Division One East tie, Binfield emerged as the winners by 2-1 after extra time over South Kilburn.  Ben Lydon opened the scoring for Binfield and Abdi Yassin replied for South Kilburn with a second half effort.  The tie was settled by Binfield’s Callum Whitty late in the second period of extra time. 

Lydney Town of Division One West were turned over by their Premier League opponents, Chalfont Wasps 3-1 but only after extra time.  All the goals came in the extra time period with David Fisher, Andrew Tallyn and Liam O’Neill on target for the Wasps and Matt Timmins for Lydney. 

Abingdon Town succumbed to two late goals from Old Woodstock Town courtesy of James Keeble and John Mills.  Carterton overcame their Division One West opponents, Tytherington Rocks by 3-0 through Daniel Dixon, Chris Bowles and Gary Smales. 

Finchampstead were undone by a Jimmy Deabill (pictured left) hat-trick for Kidlington and Marlow United added to Witney United’s recent woes by scoring a winner in extra time.  On target for Marlow, Lewis Brown and Vinny Cuva and for the Blanketmen, Ryan Curtin.  Wootton Bassett Town were not able to produce their early season cup heroics, going down 2-0 to their Premier league opponents, Shortwood United with a goal in each half from Kacey Johnstone and Andy Hoskins.           

                                   

SoccerkitsPlus Supplementary Cup

Bicester Town continued with their recent wretched form going down to Reading Town by six without reply.  Reading’s scorers were Ray Spence (2), Graham Lewis (2), Scott Rees  and James Clark.  Fairford Town go through to the next round, a goal from Alex Rudd separating them from their Division One West opponents, Winterbourne United.  In the One East versus One West clash between Holyport and Cricklade Town, Neil Fisher’s first half strike for Cricklade was enough to settle the tie. 

Kintbury Rangers carry the flag forward for Division One East in their game against Penn & Tylers Green courtesy of a double from Shaun Dyke.  Gary Finch replied for Penn.  Division One East side, Prestwood were overcome by their One West opponents, Oxford City Nomads by 3-1 Ben Moses with a brace and an own goal was enough for the Nomads, Peter Tickle replying for Prestwood with a late consolation goal.  Though it took 67 minutes for Jamie Jordan of Trowbridge Town to settle the tie against Thame United, his solitary strike being the difference between the two sides.

 

Premier Division

This weekend’s FTL Futbol Hellenic League programme has been reduced to just three matches as a result of teams being tied up with various cup competitions.

Highworth Town overcame Flackwell Heath by 2-1.  Goals for Highworth came from the boot of Terry Bohane and the head of Paul Donnelly, Ben Chadbone scoring a consolation goal in the 90th minute for the visitors. 

After beating Witney United in mid-week, Pegasus Juniors continued with their rich vein of form by beating 4th placed Ardley United 2-0 with goals from Chris Mortlock and David Hart. 

The Shrivenham versus Almondsbury Town fixture was postponed as a mark of respect for Robert Cruse who sadly passed away yesterday following injuries sustained in a car crash.  Rob had recently signed for Almondsbury Town.

 

Division One West

Table toppers Hardwicke AFC took on third placed Purton and the fixture ended in a 1-1 draw.  Purton took an early lead through Warren Fuller in the 4th minute but Hardwicke equalised through Steve Jackson in the 55th minute to share the points. 

Headington Amateurs demolished lowly Pewsey Vale by 7-1 with goals from a Darren Smith four-timer, a brace from Lee Ratcliffe and one from Luke Cuff. Pewsey’s consolation goal was scored by Phil Penning. 

Second placed Letcombe took on bottom of the table Cirencester United and thrashed them by 7-1 with pairs from Mark Denny and Pete Horswell and singles from Rich Claydon and Iain Whatley and an own goal.  Cirencester’s goal came from from Tariq Taynaz. 

In the mid table clash between Malmesbury Victoria and Easington Sports, Malmesbury ran away with the points, scoring five times through Rich Gee, Steve Avenell, Jon Edmonds, Lee Stoddart and Stuart Hemsley.  Gareth Source scored Easington’s solitary reply. 

The Clanfield versus Cheltenham Saracens fixture was postponed as a mark of respect for Robert Cruse.  Rob had been playing for Cheltenham Saracens before recently signing for Almondsbury Town. 

 

Division One East

In the game between Chinnor and 2nd placed Wokingham & Emmbrook, Wokingham & Emmbrook took the points with a 65th minute strike from Luke Lee.  With only one league win this season, Eton Wick were no match for Henley Town, surrendering the fixture by 3-0. 

Scorers for Henley were Ben Lloyd and Tommy Boylan and an own goal to complete the result.  Draw specialists, Newbury pulled out all the stops to score four times through Kalief Madden, Mark James with two and Daniel Lachacz, against bottom of the table, Launton Sports, who scored through Chris Please. 

Rayners Lane played top of the table side Ascot United and inevitably lost by 2-1.  Carlos Cambiero put Rayners Lane into a first half lead but Paul McGrotty and Steve Curtis secured the result for Ascot with second half strikes.

Bisley Sports go through to the next round of the Surrey Premier Cup with a 1-0 win over Merton.

22nd November

Premier Division

With Hook Norton losing to VTFC 4-0 in an FA Vase replay, there were 10 games in this weekend’s FTL Futbol Hellenic League programme. 

Abingdon Town went ahead through Matt Davies in their game against Highworth Town but eventually succumbed 4-1.  Highworth’s goals coming from Tom Dingle (2), Gary Hill and an own goal. 

Almondsbury Town’s faltering title challenge was boosted by a 6-0 thrashing of Milton United, courtesy of a Richard Kear (left) hat trick and singles from John Lock, Adam Cole and Sahr Kabba. 

Carterton with a brace apiece for Chris Bowles and Carl Williams had a good win over Marlow United by 4-1, Marlow’s consolation came from the boot of Dan Pedley. 

In the top of the table clash, Chalfont Wasps lost out narrowly to Witney United by 2-1.  Witney hit first with a strike from Ben Thompson but Chalfont equalised on half-time through Kieran Webb.  A late strike by Harry Burnley settled the tie. 

Flackwell Heath had a comfortable 3-0 win over struggling Bicester Town with a brace from Ben Chadbone and one from  Alan Akerman.  Hungerford Town had a narrow win over Pegasus Juniors thanks to a Mark McMeeking strike and  Kidlington lost to Harrow Hill who recorded their first victory of the season by 2-0 thanks to strikes by Ed Weyman and Will Freeman. 

Old Woodstock Town drew with Fairford Town 1-1, goals from James Keeble and Sam Walker respectively, whilst Shortwood United  beat a jaded Shrivenham,  who lost their FA Vase replay in the week, by 3-0 thanks to Matt Collins Kacey Johnstone and Ross Casey.

Wantage Town lost to Reading Town in this mid-table clash by 2-0 with goals from Duncan Geraldes and Ray Spence either side of half time.

 

Division One East

Ascot United beat Newbury by 2-1 in this top of the table clash.  Both Ascot goals came from Jon Bennett whilst Newbury’s Adam Drake replied. 

In the mid-table clash between Bisley Sports and Chinnor a predictable 1-1 score was the outcome with goals from James Kitching and Alex Stewart respectively. 

Englefield Green Rovers went ahead through Rich Sandford in their encounter with South Kilburn but lost 2-1 after two second half strikes from Marcus and Simeon Fearon.

Holyport narrowly overcame lowly Eton Wick by 2-1 with goals from Arron Lennon and a very late Emlyn Hill strike.  Eton Wick replied through Chris Drumm.

Kintbury Rangers scraped through against bottom club, Launton Sports by 2-0 with late goals courtesy of Shaun Dyke and Richard Guy. 

In the foot of the table meeting between Prestwood and Henley Town, Henley stormed through by 3-0 in a second half onslaught with goals from Tommy Boylen, James Knight and Ben Lloyd.

Binfield and Wokingham were taking on opponents from the Reading Football League in the Reading Senior Cup. The "Moles" scored three without reply against Woodley Town, whilst the "Satsumas" scored the only goal of the fixture with Highmoor Ibis.

Division One West

Strugglers, Cirencester United notched a commendable 1-1 draw with Clanfield, goals scored by David Griffin for Cirencester and Stuart Hicks for Clanfield.

Cricklade Town and Headington Amateurs saw the A’s comfortably winning out by 4-1.  Amateur’s scorers were Jay Hill, Shaun Jacobs, Darren Smith and Luke Cuff,with Steve Winchcombe replying for Cricklade. 

Mid table Easington Sports notched up a commendable 2-0 victory over high flying Purton with both goals from Gareth Source.  Malmesbury Victoria drew with lowly Lydney Town, goals courtesy of Chris Oke for Malmesbury and Matt Timmins for Lydney. 

Oxford City Nomads took on Cheltenham Saracens and sailed through by 4-1 thanks to a four-timer from James Faulkner (right).

Trowbridge Town overcame Pewsey Vale in a terse 4-3 victory.  Goals for Trowbridge from Ross Pike, Waleed Bakali, Guy Rowley and Paul Gittens with a hat-trick reply from Justin Lisle (right) of Pewsey . 

Tytherington Rocks met high flying  Letcombe and lost by 2-1 thanks to  a Simon Tabor and very late Richard Claydon strike.  Rocks reply came through Mark Viner.

Winterbourne United took on table toppers, Hardwicke AFC who have only lost one league game to date and lost 3-1.  Winterbourne went ahead through a Jamie Halliday strike but second half goals from Rob Hine and Paul Carter(2) settled the affair.

Wootton Bassett Town faced Wiltshire Football League Bromham, in the Wiltshire Senior Cup scoring six without conceding a goal.

15th November

Premier Division

With eight clubs involved in FA Vase action and others in County Cup ties, including the top three only six fixtures featured in the Premier Division. This gave the chasing clubs the opportunity to close on the leading clubs and Chalfont Wasps certainly did it in style at Flackwell Heath winning 7-1. Wasps led 2-0 at the break with goals from Thompson, but the second period saw five different scorers add to the total in just 35 minutes.

Shortwood United also registered another win beating Marlow United 4-0 with Matt Green scoring a hat trick. ‘The Wood’ is only eight points behind leaders Hungerford and also have four games in hand. Fairford Town put Wantage Town to the sword winning 6-1. It was a great match for Alex Rudd (left) who scored four times.

Reading Town put five past Milton United without reply, Ray Spence and Graham Lewis netted two each. Pegasus Junior’s beat Kidlington 2-1 after going a goal behind when Danny Wise netted in the second minute. Simon Gwynne equalised just before the hour and Danny Robbins netted the winner with five minutes left. The battle at the bottom saw Harrow Hill and Old Woodstock share the points without a goal being scored.

FA Vase

Only Hungerford and Witney United won their VASE ties, Hook Norton and Shrivenham have difficult midweek away replays.

The all Premier Division clash at Oakland Park saw league leaders Hungerford Town progress with a 2-0 win but the goals did not arrive until the final fifteen minutes. Pete Macklin netted in the 76th minute and Tom Fila doubled the advantage four minutes later.

Second half goals from Ben Thompson in the 56th minute and Gary Wickens six minutes from time saw Witney United in the draw for Round Three although they did concede a last minute goal.

Hook Norton and VT have it all to do on Tuesday evening after a 1-1 draw. Shrivenham were also not able to gain an advantage from a home tie drawing 2-2 after extra time against Hamworthy United and replay on Wednesday.

Clanfield lost 2-0 at Chalfont St Peter and Binfield went out to an early goal at Frimley Green. Wootton Bassett Town were the biggest losers of the day from the Hellenic League suffering a 4-0 defeat at Wimbourne Town.

Division One East

Wokingham & Emmbrook retained top spot with a 1-0 win at home to fellow promotion chasers Kintbury Rangers, the all important goal was scored in the 31st minute by James Wise.

Ascot United secured another three points with a 3-1 win at Launton Sports after being a goal down from the 38th minute when Elwyn Thomas netted for Sports. The equaliser came from Andy Lumb on 75 minutes and was followed by two further goals against a now deflated Launton side.

Newbury were taken all the way by Holyport in a match that finished 2-2. A 3rd minute penalty from Emlyn Hill put the visitor’s ahead with Kalief madden levelling before the break. Liam Thorne put Newbury in front early in the second period but Lee Jerram nicked a point in the 73rd minute. South Kilburn scored six without reply by Bisley Sports, Eton Wick were 0-2 home losers to Rayners Lane. Penn & Tylers shared four goals and the points with Finchampstead.

Division One West

The top four all won with Hardwicke recording a 5-0 nap hand against bottom club Cirencester United, Steve Jackson scored twice in the second half.

Letcombe had a close encounter at home to Lydney Town. Matt Timmins put Town ahead after 24 minute’s; however, the lead lasted just five minutes with Richard Claydon restoring parity. It was Claydon again three minutes into the second half who netted the winner.

Purton kept the pressure on the top two with a resounding 5-0 win against Wiltshire neighbours Pewsey Vale. Early second half goals were scored by Justin Miller and Rich Gee but it was Blaine Fitzgerald who netted a hat trick in the last twenty minutes.

Malmesbury Vic’s won 3-2 at home to Trowbridge Town with four of the goals coming in the first twenty minutes to give Vic’s a 3-1 lead. Trowbridge did pull another goal back late on.

A goal from Mark Nash in the 75th minute was all that separated Winterbourne United from Oxford City Nomads. Cheltenham Saracens suffered a 3-2 loss at home to Tytherington Rocks. Joe Tustain scored both Saracens goals with Marcus Taylor netting twice for Rocks.

8th November

Premier Division

It’s tough at the top of the Premier Division with leaders Hungerford Town and Witney United both on 36 points after securing wins by the odd goal. Hungerford, home to 3rd placed Chalfont Wasps saw few goal scoring opportunities in the match. Prolific goal scorer Ian Concannon took his chances well scoring from a corner in the 30th minute and then doubling Hungerford’s lead in the 70th minute. Wasps powered forward but were unsuccessful until a set play in the 90th minute saw recent signing Edward Chemail prod the ball home to give the score some respectability

Witney United were also involved in a close encounter at Fairford Town and were 2-0 down on the hour following Fairford goals from Alex Rudd and Matt Boucher. Andy Younie pulled one back in the 77th minute and two goals at the death saw Witney home as John McMahon 89th minute goal was added to by Ben Thompson in the last minute.
Goals from Ben Milner and Joe Coleman gave Hook Norton a 2-0 win at Pegasus Junior’s and Shortwood United were 3-1 winners at Bicester Town.

The topsy-turvy season of Almondsbury Town continues as they suffered a 2-0 loss at Kidlington which was the Oxfordshire club’s first league win in TEN outings. Goals from Danny Wise and Morgan Williams saw Kidlington win the points.

Carterton secured the points at Abingdon Town with a Tom Fletcher goal. Highworth beat Reading Town 3-2 as did Marlow United at home to Harrow Hill. Milton United and Flackwell Heath drew 1-1, the Old Woodstock and Shrivenham match was goalless.

Division One East

Weather and the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup reduced the One East program to just three matches and ensured that Wokingham & Emmbrook were able to wrest top spot from Ascot United with a 5-0 win at home to Eton Wick. FIVE was the theme of the afternoon for James Wise as he gave W&E a 2-0 half time lead with goals in the 15th and 25th minutes. Wise (pictured)completed his hat trick in the 55th minute with further goals coming from Shaun Wanklyn and Darren Thorne.

At Rayners Lane the home side triumphed again making it four without defeat and move into the top half of the table thanks to second half goals from Darren Gardner, Kieran Thomas and Ryan Upton with James Mepham scoring for visitor’s Bisley.

Thame United and South Kilburn drew 1-1. A 67th minute penalty from Abdi Yasim was equalised by Thame’s mark Jones ten minutes later.

Division One West

Hardwicke made it 11 wins out of 12 thanks to a 42nd minute goal from Steve Jackson when facing Easington Sports at the Hardwicke Playing Field and opened up a five point lead from second placed Letcombe who were without a game. Purton came through a tough encounter at Headington Amateur’s and shared the points in a 3-3 match that saw Darren Smith score twice for Amateur’s whilst Blaine Fitzgerald scored twice in the last five minutes to snatch a point.

Malmesbury Victoria over ran Clanfield at Radcot Road winning 6-1 with veteran Kevin Coles netting twice. This was Vic’s third win in a row and they are now in fourth place and looking very much a promotion contender, Sorry Kenny!
Cheltenham Saracens were five minutes away from defeat at home to Pewsey Vale who scored in the 6th minute through Matt Bissett. Stuart Lewis saved the Saracen’s with an equaliser in the 85th minute.

Cirencester United were blasted for six by neighbours Cricklade with Steve Winchcombe scoring a hat trick. Oxford City Nomads beat Tytherington Rocks 2-0 with goals from George Redknapp and Lance Shaw. An 85th minute goal from Paul Hunt was enough to secure another three points for Wootton Bassett Town at home to Trowbridge Town.

Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup – 2nd Round

NINE Hellenic clubs were involved in this competition and seven go through to the 3rd Round though this could be EIGHT as Prestwood saw their tie at Old Challenors’ postponed.

Holyport were shocked to be on the wrong end of a 3-1 score line at Westwood United of the Reading League. The other defeated club was Didcot Town Reserves who lost 4-1 at Frilsham & Yattendon.

Binfield were 2-0 winners at home to Orchard Park Rangers. Finchampstead also won at home beating Windsor Great Park 2-0. Kintbury Rangers were taken very close to extra time beating North Berks club Wootton & Dry Sandford 2-1. Newbury were 4-1 winners against another North Berks League side Drayton. Chalfont Wasps, current holders of the cup, visited New Windsor OB’s with their reserve team and won 5-1. Penn & Tylers also progress to the 3rd Round with a 1-0 win over Taplow and Ascot United beat Rabson Rovers 5-2.

1st November

Premier Division

There were only two Premier Division encounters today. High flying Hook Norton fought back from a first half in which goals from Mark Peters and Taylor Gill had given visitors Shrivenham a two goal lead, before coming back with strikes from Karl Standen and Lee Harris (2).before Bradley Gill equalled the scores.

Reading Town had a comfortable win over struggling Bicester Town with goals from Arron Parfitt and Graham Lewis.

Challenge Cup

In the first round of the league’s SBJ Insurance Brokers Challenge Cup seven Premier clubs had the difficult task of Division One sides but only one was embarrassed , Harrow Hill lost at Finchampstead, Isalew, Thomas , Hogg and Wright scored whilst Manns, Jones and Freeman struck for the visitors.

Ascot United shook their powerful opponents with strikes from Phil Boddy and Steve Curtis in the first 20 minutes but Shortwood United replied in the closing seconds of the half with Coates and Green. With three minutes left Baldwin gave the visitors the tie.

Abingdon Town took an early lead through Thomas and Brooks at Chinnor but in the second half with the wind behind them the home equalised through Stewart and Davis direct from a corner, only for Abingdon to snatch the winner in the closing minutes from Green.

At Henley Town after a blank first half Carterton took the lead from Keen then Chris Bark equalised for before Dickinson and Perry scored for visitors.

After an early shock when Holyport took the lead at Hungerford Town through Sam Jones in the 13th minute. But the home side comprehensively triumphed with six goals from Luke Brewer, Ian Concannon (2), Tom Fila, Scott Davis and Graham Edney.

Launton Sports fought hard in the first half holding Kidlington to two goals from Morgan Williams and Mark Baker and held them until the 76 minute when Danny Wise (left) scored a hat trick in twelve minutes followed by strikes from Lee Bolton and Mark Baker.

Ardley United lead at half time through Andrew Stidder against Old Woodstock Town but they scored in second period from Willoughby and he added a second in extra time with one from Dunmall.

Marlow United got the better of Fairford Town on their visit to the west with goals from Duggie Buchanan and a brilliant own goal header.

Almondsbury Town won by the odd goal in five in their visit to Flackwell Heath with goals from Andy Proctor, Kane Ingram and Richard Kerr. Matthew Gold and Ric Cannon replied for the home team.

Highworth Town had a comfortable win over Pegasus Juniors with two goals from Tom Dingle and one each from Phil Corcoran and Dan Wallington. Matty Macuire replied.

At Tytherington Rocks the home side triumphed over Trowbridge Town with goals from Mark Greenland and Adam Keslake, whilst Neil Grant replied for Trowbridge, who also had a player sent off.

Witney United went through on penalties at Wantage Town after the game finished two each. Matthew Horsall gave the home team the lead in the 49th minute before Ryan Curtain equalised in the 52nd minute. The visitors then went in the lead with a strike from Andrew Younie in the 70th, only for Danny Keen to make it all square eight minutes later.

Wootton Bassett Town squeezed home against Hardwicke AFC in a very close competitive match when Shaun Terry netted in the 72nd minute.

A solitary goal from Ross Scott took Lydney Town through against Cricklade Town in a match that was spoilt by the strong wind... South Kilburn overcome Malmesbury Victoria after extra time.

Division One East

Bisley Sports lead by a goal from Maphan at half time on their visit to Binfield. But the second half was very different with goals galore for the home side. A hat trick for Justin McClurg (right) and two for Wing.

At Rayners Lane the home side triumphed over Kintbury Rangers in an exciting end to end game played throughout in torrential rain. For the home team Darren Gardiner netted in 42nd and 88th minutes and Ryan Upton 75th. Mike Davis replied for Kintbury in the 70th minute.

Thame United scored in the 7th minute through Hoskin but Newbury cancelled out this strike with second half goals from Stamp and Collard.

Eton Wick shared the points with Penn and Tylers Green when Pearson scored for them in the 48th minute after Sepedy had given the visitors the lead in the 39th minute.

Division One West

Oxford City Nomads twice behind but fight back to beat Easington Sports by the odd goal in five. Scored by Lance Shaw 28th minute and John Rickson 62nd and 64th, whilst for the visitors Alex Feaver 13th and John Curtis 35th.

With strikes from Jason Court, Eddy Everitt and Kevin Brooks Clanfield had a very successful first half. However, Justin Lissle scored for Pewsey Vale from the penalty spot.

Winterbourne United scrapped through at Purton with a penalty converted by Jimmy Potts in the 35th minute.
