The Way it Should All Happen - 29th April
Detailed below is an electronic communication from George Key who was the Match Referee for one of the matches played on 28th APRIL.
Division ONE EAST - ETON WICK v ENGLEFIELD GREEN ROVERS
I take time out to report about a much improved Eton Wick side. We are all quick enough to put clubs down but are not quick enough to give them support and credit when it is due to them. The match Eton Wick v Englefield Green was full of all the entertainment that you would not expect on a Saturday afternoon. The pitch was in a very good condition with a nice blanket of grass that had been mown covering most of the pitch. The dressing room door to the match official’s room had been replaced with a new door and nice new plaque. The hospitality pre match, half time and post match was once again one to a high standard and enjoyed by all the match officials.
The match was full of entertainment from the start to the end; it all started with an early injury to an Englefield Green player who pulled a muscle after landing awkwardly and had to be substituted about 15 minutes into the match, many people thinking he only wanted the Female, Physio on to treat him. With the first half nearing an end it was Eton Wick looking the likely team to score after being under pressure for best part of the match. Englefield Green playing with ten men with six minutes of the half remaining due to another player being injured
The second half was entertaining by far. Englefield Green started the half with only ten players. This was due to injuries. The manager for Englefield Green did not leave it to long before coming on himself. Englefield Green seemed to brake down the Eton Wick defence but nothing resulted in a goal. With two penalties awarded to Englefield Green, the first being put high and wide there was no problem for Eton Wick. The second penalty was a great save from The Eton Wick goal keeper, who also some how managed to keep the rebound out of the goal to most peoples surprise. This match could have been won by either team but both teams played out right to the end and Eton Wick were within a Whisper of SNATCHING all three points.
It was also nice to hear in the club house from the Eton Wick players that they were stone wall penalties and all three officials had a good match. Both teams played this match in a good sporting manner.
Great thanks to Barrie and this team at Eton Wick. Well Done.

| Kevin Nealon - 24th November
Eton Wick are sad to advise the League of the tragic death of Reserve team Manager Kevin Nealon, his popularity was shown when over 400 people attended his funeral. The loss of Kevin has had a devastating effect on the club, as he was in the process of introducing a lot of young local talent, and will be sadly missed. His popularity was shown with over 400 people attending his funeral.
Eton Wick have temporarily filled the Reserve Team position with a local lad,Terry Reeves.
