Community Sports Leaders Award (CSLA)
Higher Sports Leaders Award (HSLA)

Are you interested in taking your education into the world of sport, especially football, with the opportunity to work in the sports environment? If so read on this may be for you.

This course has been set up in partnership between Oxford United and the new Oxford Academy School.

The scheme is for 16-19 year old boys and girls of mixed ability who want to gain qualifications which will lead to a career in sport and in particular football.

Your GCSE results will determine the level of course that you will study. The choice of course will be the Btec First or National in Sports Performance. You can therefore be studying on a 1, 2 or 3 year programme.

The Oxford United Football Academy has been designed to give students of all abilities the chance to further their academic studies beyond year 11.

It is hoped that students who might have left school at 16 will re-engage in education whilst also studying qualifications specific to the sports industry.

There will be two pathways on offer for students, coaching and performance.

Performance Pathway specialises in elite player development underpinning the Oxford United scholarship scheme giving players access to the Football Conference youth league.

Coaching Pathway will consist of practical community coaching work with learning partners across the city. The course structure consists of 12 hours of theory and 10 hours of practical between Monday and Friday. The course will run through the academic year from September to July.

The opportunity will be available to work in conjunction with Peter Rhoades-Brown within the Football In The Community Scheme.

A summer tour to the United States is planned for summer 08 in conjunction with USA located partner club Seacoast United.

This is a fantastic opportunity for players of all ability around the Oxfordshire area to engage in a full time football and education programme.
