Despite having 8 unavailable regulars, Kidlington's development team made an impressive start to season 2019/20 on Saurday with a comfortable 4-1 victory against Oxfordshire Senior League outfit Hanborough. With the decision to include 18 teams in uhlsport Hellenic League East for the coming season, Nick East is needing to build a large squad.
The performance showed the great depth being built at Kidlington FC since the introduction of the A team that will operate in the Oxfordshire Senior league. Many players were given the chance including two 16 year old, Archie Brew and Steven Da Silva. Archie marked his debut with a fantastic goal.
The first half was one way traffic for the 'Greens' and a series of huge chances were wasted and it remained 0-0 at half time. The second half was a different story as the greens raced into a 3-0 lead with 2 goals from debutant striker Elliott Powell and one from young Archie who swept the ball home after a flowing move involving Powell, Taylor Southam and Jack Gaul. Following a take of substitutions, Hanborough pulled one back from a header from a corner and then late on Taylor Southam scored to make it 4-1.
This was such a pleasing start for the 'Young Greens' and next up is a rearranged friendly versus Horspath away. This will be staged at Abingdon Town on on Thursday night. 7.15 kick off.
