Having seen the team sitting at the top of the table when both the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons were brought to a premature end, Malvern Town co-managers, Lee Hooper and Dene Whittal-Williams, can now celebrate a richly-deserved promotion.
The Hillsiders have been moved up into Step 5, where we will compete in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
“I am absolutely delighted for the club; it is thoroughly deserved,” said co-manager Hooper (pictured). “From top to bottom everyone has played their part in this over the last few seasons. There are so many individuals I could name and want to thank but I will do that personally for their efforts to Malvern Town FC. We are a very ambitious club on and off-the-pitch so this promotion is important to us and I feel The FA has made the correct decision to promote us given our PPG ratio over the last two curtailed seasons. I would like to thank our backroom staff who play a big part not only on matchdays but also in our preparation during the week. Nic Butler, Georgio Raev, Sam Rathbone, Mark Taylor, Bruce Maclaren, Tsanko Ruschev and Laura Whitehead have all played their part over the past two seasons."
“People who help away from the changing room, such as Dana and Steve Hughes, Ron and the matchday staff, Marg Scott the Secretary who makes our lives easier by arranging all officials and paperwork and Anne Clack who brings pre-match energy snacks for the lads. Then there is Andy Poole for his media coverage, Cliff Williams for his magnificent photography in all weathers, Alan McKeown for help recording our matches for our own analysis".
“We are fortunate to have a hard-working and supportive Board of Directors, whilst the management of all our teams help to create a pathway for now and in the years to come. I must also thank our superb fans and have supported us through everything and whom we can’t wait to have back in the stadium, where they belong. Most of all I would like to thank every player that has played for Malvern Town whilst Dene and I have been the managers. A great effort and commitment by the lads has got us into this position; training sessions always see great numbers in attendance, so it’s competitive and realistic preparation for matches. We have a great bunch of lads here who give their all for the cause week in, week out."
“Well done to all involved! Now the preparation starts for life at Step 5."
