Binfield 0 Knaphill 1 - 16 July

Binfield continued their Pre-season programme last night with their annual game against a strong Knaphill side at King Academy Binfield. The Knaphill side included former Moles Carlo Santoro and Kane Fitzgerald along side proven goalscorer Marcus Mealing.

Carl Withers covering for the holidaying Roger Herridge included a number of promising youngsters in his squad for the game.

It was the Fitzgerald / Mealing partnership than undid the Moles in the 15th minute to produce only goal of a close game . The Moles defence was split for Mealing to beat stand-in keeper Tom Williams from 8 yards. Asa Povey was a constant thorn in the Knaphill defence but chances proved difficult to come by. Povey was without strike partner Sean Moore who is recovery from a turned ankle but is hoping to be fit for the start of the season in a few short weeks. Notable 1st half performances from Povey, Gavin and Knight who all impressed .

HT Binfield 0 Knaphill 1 – Fair to say that the Knappers had the best of the half with Mealing a constant threat.

The second half saw the introduction of Callum Wright. Will Shaw and 16 year old Charlie Wheeler, alongside Eddie Lee.

Chances for Lee and Povey brought smart saves from the Knaphill keeper but despite having much better of the half the Moles failed to convert for the first time in pre-season

Withers introduced Luis and Jaz LePaih along side Joel Valetin with a last throw of the dice but the game finished Binfield 0 Knaphill 1

Next up is Saturdays away game at Wallingford KO 3pm at Wallingford Sports Park OX10 9RB where we look forward to meeting up with Glen Goudie and Andy Silver who were previously part of the Moles management team.
