Westfields opened up their pre-season programme for the new season with a 4-3 defeat away at Kidlington, Oxford on Saturday when they were beaten by the odd goal in 7 in an entertaining game against BetVictor Southern League Central side Kidlington Town.
Westfields paraded new signings Richard Greaves and Ryan Green along with trialist Joe Bates.
Westfields got off to a great start when good work between Keanu Cooper and Aidan Thomas saw Thomas fire home low into the bottom corner of the net in the early stages but the home side came roaring back to score with a far post header.
Kidlington then took a 2-1 lead, only to see Westfields come back with a goal from Joe Bates to send the sides in at 2-2 at the break.
After the interval Kidlington went 3-2 ahead, only to see Richard Greaves equalise from the penalty spot to make it 3-3 before the home side took the victory with a low shot past Ian Havard late in the game.
Westfields worked hard in the warm conditions and now face another tough friendly when they are away at Horndean from the Wessex League in Portsmouth next weekend.
Westfields open up their home pre-season programme next Tuesday 23rd July with a home match against Welsh League side Monmouth Town and then on Thursday 25th July they entertain uhlsport Hellenic League Division One West side Pegasus Juniors for the Dennis Hartland Memorial Trophy.
Westfields then meet a Cardiff City XI on Saturday 27th July at allpay.park, kick-off 3pm, before welcoming Malvern Town at allpay.park on Tuesday 30th July, kick-off 7.45pm.
Westfields have been drawn away in the Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup against North West Counties side Congleton Town and that match takes place at Congleton Town on Saturday 10th August.
